Finding It hard

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys, have been on this website for almost three or bit months now and have tried to stick to a healthy exercise timetable, but recently am finding it very hard to stick to.

I used to go running nearly every four days in a week but since last week I  haven't been able to go once. I don't know whats wrong with me, I want to go but I just don't have the power to actually get up and put my running shirts on!

I wish there was something to get me pass this stalemate!

  Any suggestions ?

Without sounding harsh, GET UP AND DO IT!

There is no other advice. You can find a friend to join you, try this and that, but the bottom line is it's up to you. No one's advice will get you out there. It's tough for all of us. Hang in there and be strong.

Dear Stalemate,

I think it means you need to incorporate some variety.  Maybe you could try running on a different path--more scenic maybe.  It would also be helpful to try substitute various activities for cardio instead of just running.  Swimming is always fun.  Kickboxing is an awesome workout.  Cardio dancing is another favorite of mine.  Basically any change to keep the mind and body from becoming too bored is beneficial.

Hope this helps.  Good luck.

Dear Stalemate:

Ditto what other replies have said, in a way.  I do the same thing about 2-3 months if my activity is just one thing (for you, running).  Mix it up.   It's healthier have different activities anyway - work out all the muscles in your body.  Think of something you'd like to do - swimming? yoga? cycling? weights? And then figure out what needs to be done (finding a pool, a class, equipment, etc) and just do it - TODAY! But no expectations or pressure to do it perfectly.  Approach it as a leisure activity that you're doing for fun.

Good luck!

Maybe try joining a class? Paying the money and having a scheduled time gets me back in gear. In the past I've really enjoyed the boot camp classes as well as cardio-kickboxing. I like high intensity workouts that produce very noticeable results so that after the month (or however long the overall duration of the class is) has ended, I am motivated to keep it up.
