Thats hard for sure! How far are you from work? Can you walk to or from your job, or during breaks? My job actually has a walking at lunchtime competition (whoever walks the most at lunch in a week gets $50). Incentive is always nice...if that's not possible, even a 30 minute walk in the evening or whenever you can fit it in is good! I used to walk for a half hour in the mornings after night shift...sounds weird but it was good for winding down (I worked in a youth jail...yikes..) Maybe set up a walking group/schedule with friends, so you cant bail on your plans!

Hope that helps!

thanks! lunch breaks arent an option since i hardly get one! LOL but ill defintaly try the winding down part. we have plenty of stairs at work since its an 18 story building though. ill start with that during my shifts instead of the elevators!

There are so many times that I would rather relax than go to the gym, but you just have to force yourself to do it at the time, and trust yourself that you will be glad that you did.  Sometimes I have to force myself to go, but afterwards, I always feel so great and am glad that I went.  Even if you can only bear to stay for a half hour, some exercise  is ALWAYS better than none.  My work schedule is crazy too, I work a different shift almost every day, which makes getting to the gym impossible on some days, but on the days that I have a chance, I go because I know that it may be the only chance I get that week.

Sounds cliche, but when I absolutely can't seem to force myself to do anything, I crank the tunes & dance while cleaning. I hate cleaning, I hate getting home tired and having to do something when all I want to do is rest.. so I take 5 minutes, sit down, close my eyes & really get into the music.. then I go. At the very least it gives me an extra bit of oomph for the day & does wonders for my place as well. :-)
