Firefox 3.0 deleted some of my bookmarks!
What a nightmare! It is not as though I have no bookmarks, but they are OLD bookmarks.
On Download Day, I did the 3.0 version for the first time, didn't like it, then went back to the 2.0.0.16 version, so I had hoped the kinks in 3.0 would have been worked out by now. I even thought I was being smart by setting a restore point in case I was unhappy, and that just created more headaches with my Norton Antivirus.
From Mozilla's Web site, the 2.0 version will no longer be maintained (or supported?) by mid-December 2008, so the choice opt out of 3.0 may no longer be mine shortly.
What steps should I take to preserve my current bookmarks before updating to Firefox 3.0 when prompted again? Thanks.
Hope this helps:
How to export your Firefox bookmarks to a bookmark.html file so that you may import it into another application.
1. Open Firefox.
2. Select Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks.
3. The Bookmarks Manager opens. Click File > Export…
4. Save the bookmark.html file wherever you wish. I usually prefer the Desktop.
Now you can use the file to import the bookmarks into another program.
Good luck!
