Fireproof - A MUST see movie!!!

Quote  |  Reply

This definitely falls into the "Praise" category!

Praise God for the church that has risen up and created the films Flywheel, Facing the Giants and Fireproof. I've now seen all three and they are so right on the money.

If you have the time, while the movie is still in the theater, go see Fireproof http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/ .

If you are married, intend to be married, have friends that are married, or just got out of a marriage, GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!

My husband and I were both previously married. By God's grace, we learned and grew through the darkest and most depressing days of our lives. When we found each other, we were hungry to share the love that God had grown inside us. But, as with any couple, we have our struggles. This movie brought back so many memories and filled us both with praise for our Father who is the author of perfect love.

We treated all the families in our small group to the movie and even one of our single moms came and she just reaffirmed her commitment to looking for a man that she can honor God by being a good wife to.

I could go on and on. If as many people as possible can go see this film, we can slowly, but surely send a message to Hollywood that these types of films have an audience that will spend money to see quality films!

God Bless!

I saw the trailer for this movie.  I need to watch this with my husband.  He (we) needs to pay attention to the message in it.  I know that there must be an underline message it because Kirk Cameron is in it.  He does not do / direct any movies that does not promote God, the family, or the church.  At least his movies from the 1990 and on.  He was in the "Left Behind" movies.  He was still trying to find himself and God when he did the "Like Father, Like Son" type movies.

i want to see it as well dont forget to check out saving God as well iwatched that one it was good movie as well

Oh, please do go see it! I was surprised by the number of "girlfriends" that came without their men.

Be warned, the movie focuses on Caleb (Kirk Cameron) and what he has to do to win back his wife. If you miss the twist near the very end, you'll miss the fact that the movie isn't all about picking on husbands. That was a very needed twist, otherwise, I'd have a hard time promoting a "husband bashing" movie!

The message in the movie is straightforward and one that all couples should revisit from time to time. I wish I had learned the lessons in this movie before my first marriage fell apart. Perhaps I could've won back my husband. As it is, God taught me and prepared me for the husband and 5 kids he had waiting around the corner.

Go, go, go see the movie. I can't imagine you'd regret it.

This article explains that most of the people who worked in/on the film were volunteers--including Kirk Cameron.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/10/ christian.fireproof.success.ap/index.html

And when Kirk was on the Today Show to promote the movie, not only did he mention that he didn't take a paycheck for the film (there was a donation to his camp for terminally ill children) he also kept a pledge he's made to protect his own marriage.

Kirk has pledged that he'll never kiss anyone other than his wife. Not even while acting!! So, when the scene comes where there's a passionate kiss, in reality, it's his wife, dressed up like his movie wife and it's shot in such a way that you can't tell.

Now tell me, how many men, who can say "it's just acting" would pass on the opportunity to kiss pretty women? I'm amazed that Kirk is standing strong against a culture full of evil influences.

I can't wait to buy this movie to watch over and over again!!!

Now that is being committed to the marriage.  "Forsaking all others".....

I really admire Kirk Cameron and his stand against the modern film industry.  And not to take a check from the movie profits?  I had heard about Camp Firefly.  I think that he had donated the profits from one of his other Left Behind movies to the camp.  The man is blessed.

**  bump  **  I just saw a commercial saying that this movie is coming out on DVD tomorrow (January 27, 2009)

I preordered it from Walmart.com and it should arrive today!!! Even if your marriage is strong, this movie is just awesome.  Fireproof. Rent it. Buy it. Watch it. Pray!!! God will teach you through the film.  :)

I can't wait!  I had ordered this through Netflix to rent.  Thanks for sharing the movie's release in DVD.

***I just found out it is a VERY long wait.  ):  I wonder why????

Awesome! I am just curious if the spouse/or "special" friend who watched this movie with you - stayed and watched the whole thing.  My husband started watching the movie but 15 minutes into it, he got up to do "other things".  He poked his head in once.  He finally came back and watched the last 5 minutes of the movie.  He had questions but I told him he should watch the whole movie.  I do not want to ruin it for those who have not seen the movie.  My husband like adventure, shoot 'em up, and action movies.  He jokes it isn't a good movie unless someone dies.  I think some of the things that are disclosed in the first 15 minutes actually made him uncomfortable.  I could relate to several things.  To me, the bottom line is, without God we truly are unfulfilled.

My husband did watch the whole thing. In fact, when the movie was in the theater, we sprung for several of our couples from our small group to watch it. It was powerful.

I noticed in the theater several "ladies" groups. I think guys inherently find this to be a "chick flick" not a learning tool. And, lots of folks want movies to be entertainment, not enrichment!!!

As for your husband's argument that it isn't a good movie unless someone dies, you could point out that the Caleb we meet in the first 1/2 or better of the movie does kinda "die". He's certainly not the same when the film closes!! Thank God!!!

I still think this movie is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone!! Highly recommend. Two thumbs WAY up!!!

I too gave it "two thumbs up".  It is an excellent learning tool.  Really opened my eyes regarding relationships - especially with some things I neglect to do in my marriage as well as my "daily" time with God.

My husband, bless his heart, is of another generation - he is 63 - watched a lot of B-Westerns growing up.

He was really upset with Caleb's wife in taking care of her parents.  When, Andy and I first married, most of our disagreements (or arguments) were because I was giving my parents and brothers more attention then I was giving him and John Michael.  Scripture tells us:  "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." Genesis 2:24 (KJV)

I am hoping down the line we can sit through this movie together.  You have to be in the right frame of mind.

I watched this movie just last night. Our church had a movie night and will be conducting a 6-week Bible study based on the movie. I thought it was very powerful. Every couple could benefit from seeing it. There was a lot about the characters that I could relate to, the struggles that both Caleb and his wife faced. Definitely a must-see.
