What fires you up to keep dieting?

I go back and fourth with the angel and demon issues. I eat great for four to five days then binge on wine, restaurants and too much fun. I am working out the entire time. I never miss a beat there, but the dieting sometimes feels like (remove the t off diet)die ing. What do you guys do to keep the wheels on?

lol... I look at old pictures and see how thin I used to be.  That's enough motivation for me.  :)
Stop dieting, start living, with healthful food in the right amounts and some unhealthful foods carefully selected and accounted for in your eating plan.
lol same here :p  Plus I'm trying to land a law enforcement job after college and I need to be in good shape.  Plus I just feel and look alot better and I don't want to give that up for anything.  Oh, and it's okay to splurge every now and then, I do it  too :p I just get right back up and keep going though, it may slow me down a little, but I try not to let it stop me in my tracks :)

After awhile it becomes habit. I don't think about it.
Seeing the numbers on the scale consistently dropping keeps me motivated. That and I feel better and am less tired now that I'm eating healthier.
Skinny Clothes, great Sex with the hubby... Need I say more...

:)
swimming in my clothes motivates me! I also have friends that cheer me on!
Shades of Oprah!!! You guys are too much fun. Canadachick all I can say is BEHAVE YOU RANDY GIRL!,  I hope to be swimming in my clothes soon. Thanks for the comments
Cheers
i'm glad to see this post because after being motivated for many months, i've seemed to lose it recently. it's nice to see where others find motivation.
I have a wedding I am in in April, so it's motivating me to keep going.  I want to look good then!
my motivation is that i promised myself i would weigh 140 by my daughters 1st b-day which is in April....i have about 28 more pounds to go! i had gain ALOT of weight during my pregnancy and I refuse to keep it on!  ;-)
If I could have my way I would be eating Japanese food or sushi everyday and I won't be sick of dieting lol. My main motivation is to fit in the kick-ass bikini I bought (cost me some pretty dollars too) last summer! (yes, I didn't meet my goal this year, so I am working for the next one... *sigh*)
--my 3yo daughter.  When I get a little off track, knowing that I'm setting an example that will be with her the rest of her life helps me turn it around

--the energy I'm beginning to feel when I've eaten well and worked out .  I'm still tired most of the time, but not all of the time anymore; and not quite as exhausted as I was!
Seeing the weight go down on the scale (and my measurements as well), feeling the difference in how my clothes fit, seeing little differences in the mirror (not so much my stomach but elsewhere).  I've also noticed lately that I can walk a little longer without being winded or having my back hurt, that I have a little more energy to do things (like LOOOONG grocery shopping trips).  I also feel I'm making progress and doing well when I change things in my routine at the gym, such as increase my reps and/or weight, or try a new machine.  I recently added the treadmill and elliptical to my routine.  First time I did the treadmill I only lasted about 8 mins - the last time I was on for 20 (and feeling great, not winded)!  I am hoping to go to at least 30 mins on the next visit.
Hmmm... I share a lot of motivation with everyone else, old pictures, the dropping scale, smaller clothes fitting.  I really want to run a marathon someday, which always brings me back.  Pretty girls are good incentive too! =)
I've tapped my before and after pictures to my refriderator. I never want to go back to the "before" and I think the After girl is really cute. So when ever I feel a binge coming on, I stop and remember "before". I also watch Beyonce videos and remind myself I can't look like her with cookies shoved in my face :-)...
seeing the numbers go down each week is THE best motivator.  I sometimes get off the track, but when I remember my Christmas goals I am right back to C-C the very next day!
  • Not having to shop in the "plus size" department
  • Seeing all the 300+ lb heavies in the bldg where I work
  • Greater mobility - my knees feeling SO much better
  • Spending less on food
The way I feel and look at my proper weight.  I like well-tailored clothes and feeling chic and fashionable... and not looking my age - since being overweight definitely ages a person.  And the mind set that this is not a "diet" ... but a way of life.  I know it sounds trite, but I'm trying not to get crazy when I eat something that's not quite healthy.  As I see it, the key it not to go overboard ... just because I had a danish this morning for breakfast (457 cals) doesn't mean that I continue eating that many cals at each meal.

This is weird but everytime I look at a donut and crave it, I imagine that donut literally being attached/stuck to my stomach as excess fat. =/ Yes Yes, it's disgusting but that is what a donut is!! It's all sugar, bad carbs and no good for you! and Do you REALLY want that extra layer of love handle around your ab area you worked so hard to make it flat/tone? (I assume you work on your abs almost daily because you work out regularly).
I hope this helps! hahaha, it's a little bit childish, but it works. and I just used a donut example, but it goes the same for any other type of foods. Imagine greasy friessss, layered all around your stomach! EWWWW!!!
