First few weeks are the hardest...

Quote  |  Reply
I have been seriously working on losing weight for about two weeks and have lost 3 lbs.  I know this is a good weight loss, but the first month or two are so hard.  You are working really hard, counting calories and exercising and such, but the weight loss just seems so little.  I know it will add up eventually, but this is the phase of losing weight that I hate the most.  Anyone feel the same?

I feel like that now. I have lost 60 pounds in a year and I am 10 away from my goal. 220. But I am stuck at 230 now. It is fustrating even though I went from a size 42 pants to a size 33 it still is tough waiting for that last 10 to come off. Its funny. I was talking to someone the other day and I told them about how much weight I had lost and how I dont notice it anymore. He said you wount but the only way you will know you are still loosing is by other people saying how great you look. We see ourselves everyday and we are our own critic, but trust me with hard work it will happen. Dont give up!!
first couple of weeks are way easier than the last!
Hang in there, it does get  easier.  I'm on week 6 now and I just had to count it out b/c I don't keep track.  Its a way of life now not a diet.  I have my staples that I always eat and know exactly what the calorie count is.  The weekends get tricky when we go out to eat or eat at someone's house but other than that my house is full of healthy food to choose from.  I find myself being less hungry and the food cravings are gone.
The first 3 weeks for me was the worst but once i leaped into week 4 my body almost seemed like it trained itself to not be so hungry all the time I think its because our stomachs start to reduce even after a small amount of time being on it. now im on month 5 and i must say i dont get near the cravings i used to get. hang in there it will get better..........and being so close to goal im sure is really frustrating im not at that point yet but im sure i will be feeling alot of the rest of you being a few lbs away and feeling like your never going to reach the end
I lost a lot of weight before, 130 lbs., but the first few weeks then were easy because I was really overweight and lost very quickly at first.  I remember losing 12 lbs. the first week.  Then when I got really close to my goal, that was the hardest, because it went really slowly.  Oh no, I guess when you only have 25 lbs. to lose like I do now, the beginning and the end are the hardest.  Great.
i sympathise with you modestlacey. i felt the first few weeks were the hardest too. i guess its different for everyone bu twith me keeping a strict allowance of what to eat and motivating myseld to exercise in the first few weeks was v.hard cos it was all new to me and i was used to jsut popping things in my mouth and exercise never happened before. But funnily enough i lost most weight in the first few weeks although i found it so hard. i;ve lost 6lbs up to now which isn't much but im ok with slow and steady, it shows that i can do this, no matter how hard it maybe. keep at it, u will see the results soon enough and everyday of this hard work will become worthwile. we're all here to support you!

good luck!
Absolutely agree with you! I get depressed when I start thinking I'll never reach my goal, I'll quit b/c I get bored, I'll quit b/c I won't lose fast enough. When I first start, I miss my evening snack, I want the donuts my coworkers bring in for breakfast, etc... it's SO hard the first couple weeks.  But for me, it has gotten much easier, and as I see the results each day on the scale -  it becomes easier and I'm proud that I made it this far (19.8 lbs in 10 weeks).   If you don't think you're losing fast enough (but 3 lbs is great ;)), switch up your diet, be strict in counting your calories, cut back on carbs for a few days...  add some extra exercise :)  You'll stay motivated when you see that scale moving downward!
