First 5K

I ran my first 5K this weekend.

My time was 24:22.

Is that good for a guy around 50?

You would beat a lot of 30 year old guys, congrats!

If you are happy with your time then thats all that really counts...I think its a good time...you are running about 7.51 minute miles.

Yes, that is good!  Congrats on your efforts!

Great job!!!  You did better then me when I ran my first, my time was 28:01 and I was 30 at the time (female though).

I think that's a pretty good result regardless of age!  You can check out this site for a few age-grading calculators

My first race was this summer (5k), and I did it in 28:43.  That was after about 3 months of running.  Since then, I've done a few more, and got my time down by another minute, so I've still got some work to catch up to you.  I'm 42, BTW.

Yes, a very respectable time.  Hopefully, you will continue to run on a regular basis.

Thanks everybody!  I really surprised myself because when I am just training I don't run as fast as that ... at least not for a consistent constant 3 miles.  I just hoped for under 31 minutes.

Next I think I will look for a 10K to try! :)
