Hello to my fellow forty something's! I am Donald and for 40 years I could eat or drink ANYTHING and never worry about weight gain. Unfortunately the last 5 years I haven't had the same luxury. After hitting 200 lbs and a 38 inch waist I decided to something about it! I just started the Flat Belly Diet last Thursday. The first four days is a 1200 per day calorie plan and NO CAFFEINE! WOW I never new eating/drinking (or NOT) could be so difficult! I don't know what is worse the calorie counting or the caffeine withdrawals! I feel pretty good about my progress so far but I have felt lethargic. Three days in and I have stayed on task meal wise but I have not seen much in weight reduction (need to exercise more). I picked up fast food for my daughters Sat and I didnt even sneak a fry! The smell of popcorn cooking in the microwave was tough last night...Any suggestions that may help on the temptations would be greatly appreciated! Off to see what I can do about the caffeine withdrawal's...LOL
I was there ( : I remember the days of eating anything you want. You don't have to suffer though, it doesn't have to be so bad. I do 1/2 caffeine coffee, everything is compromise. I would have taken a fry, good for you, will power!
Thank you Kathy! You are right everything is a compromise! BTW my will power faded yesterday i had a slice of pepperoni pizza, some corn chips and fries yesterday!
Hi Don,
Congratulations for wanting to do something healthy for yourself and making the resolve to lose weigh!
I have never heard of the Flat Belly Diet, so I don't know much about it, but my guess is that as a male, 1200 calories is way to low for you, unless you are very sedentary. I highly advise you to look at some of the resources on this website and find the amount of calories that is right for you - generally 500 per day less than the amount of calories you burn. Then you won't feel so lethargic and will have the energy your body needs to exercise.
Three days on a plan is far too early to tell whether or not anything is happening or not. Any weight change you see at that point is most likely water weight, and not actual fat loss. Give a new eating and exercise plan a week or two.
And find something that you can stick with...maybe only make one or two healthy changes this month and then make a couple more next month when you've got those down. Ramping down to 1200 calories and feeling deprived, then losing 'willpower' and eating corn chips and fries will not be helpful to your body or to your resolve to lose weight.
It takes some time to do the research and learn the healthy ways of losing weight, but it is worth it! It also takes time for your new habits to kick in and see results, but it is also worth it!
Blessings as you find what's right for you!
