can you explain that last comment some more? I've been going at this a couple of months, and weigh myself at the gym - which is always after 9pm. Is that not my correct weight? Do you weigh more or less in the evening? (I'm hoping for more!!!!)

thanks

It doesn't really matter when you weigh yourself as long as it's always the same time of day.  You do weigh lighter on a morning but it's the improvement you are measuring so it doesn't matter whether you start at 165 on a night or 163 on a morning, if you lose 101b, you lose 10lb no matter what your starting point.

After you wake up, and use the restroom, thats your true weight.

All the food you've eaten and water you've drank will be in your body at the end of the day, causing you to go up anywhere from 2-5 lbs.

If you weigh in on evening and all you've had that day is light foods, and the next time you weigh in, maybe you had lots of sodium that day, you'll up a few lb's.

Thats why its always advised to weigh yourself in the morning.

I'd definitely have to second nikijanestorey here. The most important factor when weighing yourself is consistency. Weigh yourself at the same time of day and then you'll be able to accurately assess weight change.

True weight is a tricky thing - most scales differ slightly.  The only way (to my knowledge) that one could learn one's "true" weight would be to perform a water displacement test.

Also, the nutrients that you consume one day don't magically pass through your system by morning. Water retention due to dehydration/high sodium intake can affect a subsequent day as well. Your body isn't this blank canvas devoid of yesterday's intake by morning.
