Fish, high in protien, good fats, and super low in calories!

Quote  |  Reply

I'm so excited that I discovered this recently!!  Last night I made a super huge fish burrito with raw red cabbage, grilled onions, a huge chunk of tilapia, hot sauce, and fat-free sour cream. This really filling and awesome tasting meal came out to about 300 calories!  One slice of 450 calorie pizza will never look the same again. haha.

Anyone have any other ideas for fish?  I know, this probably should be filed under recipies but I thought it might get buried.

So I love to do this:

- Baked a Salmon Fillet (well I broil it) atop a bed of spaghetti squash... that way the fishes fat drips onto the spaghetti squash giving it INTENSE flavor! It's so delicious - I eat this ALL the time! ha ha!

Sounds good so far!~ What spices/herbs do you use?

These is a blend of spices/herbs I use called "Pizza Seasoning" that I buy at whole foods and it has things like onion, pepper (bell), garlic, oregano, basil, pepper & lemon peel in it - it's really good... Or you could simply use dill.

For soups or baking I like Sole. For cooking on grill or skillet Salmon fillets marinated in miso paste and soy sauce with black pepper. For sashimi I love salmon, and although it is not really fish scallops and Uni. Also octopus is quite nice for sashimi.

Thanks!  Great tips!

Try cod or halibut (or any firm white fish) poached with tomatoes and peppers.  I use a can of stewed tomatoes chopped up, with the juices and a whole green and a whole red pepper chopped.  First saute a lot of onion in a little olive oil, then add the peppers and some garlic to the pan.  Saute until the vegetables are softened and then add the tomatoes.  Bring this up to a simmer and place the fish on top. If it's not juicey enough add some tomato or V-8 juice, or chicken broth.  Cover and let it poach on low heat for about 20 minutes.  It's very low in calories and high in vitamins.
