I take fish oil and eat flaxseed. Can I overdo the omega-3 fats?

I eat 1 teaspoon of flax seed and 1 teaspoon of cod liver oil every day. I am wondering if you can over do and get to much Omega 3.
Answer
In general, adults can
safely take up to 20 milliliters, or 4 teaspoons, of cod liver oil and 50
grams, or 4 tablespoons, of flaxseed a day. You are taking much less than that and so you are not overdoing it.
Fish oil provides two omega-3 fatty acids,
DHA and EPA, and flaxseeds are rich in another omega-3 fat, ALA. Omega-3 fats
cannot be produced by the body and must be eaten in the diet. Omega-3 fats play important roles in the
immune and neurological systems. Many
experts recommend eating two portions of oily fish every week to get enough
omega-3s. Cod liver oil
also provides large amounts of vitamins A and D, which can be toxic if taken in
excess. Read more about omega-3
