I have been working out for about two weeks now. I am trying to build a successful fitness routine that will help me to meet my goals. Right now, the work I have been doing feels disorganized and I am never sure when i am working out too much or too little. What is everyone's fitness plan and what has it helped them to accomplish since they began as far as weight loss?

I joined Curves 2 months ago. I like it because everything is laid out for you, and it works well for me since you're only at one station for 30 seconds! I can do anything for 30 seconds. You monitor your heart beat every so often and they have a chart that you can refer to. For only 30 dollars a month, it is the answer for me.

What are your goals and how much time do you have to devote to the program?
My main focus is cardio and I try to devote the majority of my workout to that.  I usually do about 45 min of cardio (following the couch to 5 K plan...sort of) and then do some ab work and pushups.  For Christmas my sister got me a balance board....so I want to incorporate that into that portion of my routine.
When I first start an exercise, say bicep curls with a dumbbell - I will pick a weight that allows me to do 3 sets of 8 reps. When I work up to 3 sets of 12 reps, I know it's time to go to a higher weight, and back to doing 3 sets of 8 reps. Go to Yahoo and do a search for exercises using dumbbells, you will find lots of free information out there.

I dislocated my shoulder ~4 years ago, the dumbbells are really helping me. Good luck to you!!!
