2 fitness questions pweeeeze :)

1)  Does anyone feel tremendous guilt when they do not exercise?  I normally go to the gym everyday....I burn 400-500 calories in about an hour.  (circuit training every other day)  I didnt go today and now I can't help but to feel HORRIBLE!  Is it good/better to take a day off now and then?  Or even once or twice a week?

2)  My gym is offering FREE body composition analysis for the month of Feb.  I signed up for this "free" offer on Thursday.  I would imagine they are going to try to lure ppl to purchase personal training sessions with this.  (been there, done that)  I guess my question is......is it good to have this thing done before a work out?  Also, would PMS hinder these readings??

:) Thanks to all :)

1. Personally, I enjoy my rare days off from excersing. I think that you need to give your body a break and not feel guilty about doing so. I feel better the next day after I take a day off.

2. I would think you would want to do this before your workout. I know that with my body fat scale, the instructions say that you can skew the results if you do it after a workout and it does make a difference.

i do also feel very worried when i take a day off workouts.  today is one though, my lower back is very sore/strained for some reason and my right knee too.  The knee has been complaining with every squat or lunge so i've quit those for now.  On the stairs today its been bad.  With a few days off the lunges I'll go back to a little lunges.  I'm going to skip running and just do a "fat burning" HBR walk on the treadmill tomorrow plus circuts.  Hate to miss today, especially on a weekend.  Been a bad day, my husband and I are parting ways and trying to sort out the house and arrangements..... yuck.

1. nope

2. yup. it can throw off your body water reading, which tells roughly how much of your lean mass is muscle. having large breasts can also throw off the fat reading but only by 1-2%. have them do a caliper reading for comparison - most trainers do both electrical and caliper in my experience.

1. No you ninny! You need rest as well as excersize! I try to excersize 4 times a week and to alternate, I think its good, at least for me, to have a day off, stops me getting too bored but keeps it as routine. Plus I dont want to turn into a big gym freak, I have no time as it is!

2. I would go with the advise others have said, but if you are neally not sure, just ask at reception or whatever the next time you go, I'm sure they will be able to tell you, or get hold of a trainer who knows

While it is fine to work out six days a week, your body also benefits from taking off one day a week. This vital rest period should be included in your training schedule. By the way, Haley, after looking at your gallery pictures, you should be commended for your remarkable physical transformation.
