Five more pounds to lose club

Quote  |  Reply
I am finding that the last five pounds present new challenges compared to the rest of the weight.  It seemed like the first 15 pounds just melted off but my last five are resisting.  Part of it is probably my fault.  I feel good about how I look but I know I need to lose those last 5 pounds.  I am toning a lot and doing a lot of cardio but the five pounds are sticking.  I tried increasing my calories and that hasnt worked.  These 5 pounds are not like any other pound.

Hey, I'm re-starting and wanting to lose another 3-8lbs... won't know until it starts coming off.

I'd be up for some checking in and support.  My brother recently started using this site and he and I have been talking regularly.  He's lost a few pounds his first week and is pretty motivated right now too.

I lost a pound last week and am hoping to continue "diet calories".  I'd been on maintenance calories for about a month as I needed a break from the lower calories.

I'm doing a lot of walking and lift free weights at home.
how bout the 5-10lbs to lose club...lol... i want to lose 5 first then well see about the other 5
0hh, count me in! =D

Dang, it's hard. >.<
Count me in as well!  I can't believe how difficult it has been to lose the last few pounds.

Everyone says how great I look and how much I have lost...but they don't see my imperfections when I am not wearing clothes!

I wish it wasn't true but the scale is my God...even though I am physically seeing results, I want the scale to reflect those results.
I've had the same problem with my last 10.  I've been 135 for months and months.  Then I gained 6, ouch :(

I'm going strong again since last week and I can't believe I've lost 2 of those 6 already.  Easy come, easy go I guess.

I've got a daily check sheet in my journal if you're interested.  It is working for me.  Yea :)
Hey There,
How are you all doing?  I'm on the road about 3-5 days/week for the spring/summer.  Trying to stay on track.  Very tough to track calories.  Trying to fill my vehicle with good travel food and only eat out when necessary.  Will see how this goes.  Tough road ahead, so to speak...

How 'bout yourselves?  Challenges, successes?

I did do better last week, I upped my cardio on my normal day off and lost two pounds but then this weekend I did a little partying on Friday night and had a romatic evening with my bf on saturday (steak, wine, crabcake and key lime pie) that has set me back to where I was the beginning of last week.  I hope its mostly water weight and falls off soon.  How long does it take for water weight to come off once I drink and eat normally again?  On the bright side I did run 6 miles on Saturday morning.  That is my new record. :O)
hi ya'll i was just curious as to if anyone had broken the plateau for these last few pounds since this thread started?? I was 114 at that time my weigh ins are on thursdays so ill keep u guys posted also what are some things you guys have been trying that has been different from the usual plan??
I have been in my maintenance phase of weight loss since November of last year so still early days. I am taking running pretty seriously now so decided I needed to lose another few pounds to lessen the impact of any extra weight on my joints. I am 5'8" and 148 pounds. I maintained at 149 pounds for a couple of months then put on a couple of pounds and maintained at 151 for a few weeks. It has taken 3 weeks to get my weight down to 148 and I am really noticing the difference with the running :) I was tough with my food intake and made sure I was eating healthier options again. I think this is themain contributing factor to my loss.
Hey Y'all,  I'm down a couple three pounds since we started this thread.  Mostly just making sure I'm getting in 10,000 steps/day prior to starting each day. Working on a pound/week.

I keep altering my idea of where my weight will feel comfortable.  I'm not in the shape I was a decade ago... no kidding eh?  Unknown territory as it appears I've lost quite a bit of muscle over the years.  Currently my weight is lower than it ever was when I was fit but my bmi is still much higher and unacceptable.

I think I may be needing to hit 120lbs instead of 125, my original goal.
I'm joining! :) I actually have 15lbs to go (I think) but I'm joining anyway...the frustration of being so close after having lost 85# in the last year is gonna kill me....
Ive got 5lbs to go.... been stuck at this plateau since jan. Its tough!
Hi everyone, I'm glad to see this topic raised.  I want to share my recent history of averages.  The weight loss has been extremely slow.  The distances are combined walking outdoors and jogging on the treadmill.  1 kg is equal to 2.2 lbs.  The last 5 lbs are so close and yet... so far.  My body is fighting it and I have been unable to control my eating this month.  I'm looking at a 2500 cal. average per day.  Any suggestions/tips/commiseration will be very appreciated!  Nancy

December: 2460 cals p/day, 7.75 km p/day, 56 kg average weight for the month

January: 2627 cals, 7.4 km, no weight recorded

February: 2060 cals, 6.8 km, 55 kg

March: 2100 cals, 9 km, 53.5 kg

April: 2126 cals, 7.1 km, 52.5 kg

May: so far, 2500 cals p/day, afraid to get on scale, argh!
5 for me.  Sometimes it seems unattainable, though really I know it's not.  And if I don't lose 5 of fat, it's okay.  What I really need to do is get into better shape, tone up a lot, and find balance and control to conquer my B.E.D.  I don't want a magic pill, I want a mind that functions properly.  :/
I'm finding myself pretty hungry lately too but still under maintenance calories.  This translates to maybe a half pound/week-ish, sometimes less.  My travel days are turning out to be the times I'm losing (when I'm sitting in my truck 5-10 hours/day).  I was expecting it to be the other way around... My calories must be pretty low on those days although I can't seem to keep track.  Mostly organic protein bars, fruit, nuts etc.

Still a struggle.  Can't seem to get my muscle in the kind of condition it was in when I was 30, go figure;)

Anyway, just going to keep working on it... speaking of which, boy am I feeling hungry.  Perhaps a snack and then a nice long walk this evening.

Really, is it possible to  lose the last 5 lbs?  I have been chasing after those for over 30 years!!  I wonder if we would really be any happier!
That's a very good point that aonebeach makes, that perhaps the last 5 aren't really as important as our own state of mind/contentedness.  For me I fear that the calorie counting has become a kind of hobby instead of a means to an end.  Once there isn't the fat to lose, then what?  I'll probably look for something else to obsess over, which isn't a pleasant thought.
lets do it! of course i realize i only have 5 more pounds to go righttt at christmastime Tongue out
i always have impeccable timing...
