Five pounds by Thanksgiving- join me?
Hey there, I am 24, 5 ft 5, 142 lbs. I would like to get down to 137 by Thanksgiving through cleanish eating and excercise. I would like 2 or 3 people to commune with here, to help hold me accountable. Any takers?
I could use a 5 lbs by Thanksgiving, I'm in :). I'm 5'5" 226 with an long term goal of 140. I've been struggling to get out of the 220's for the past month so 5 lbs by Turkey day sounds great!
I'm totally in! I'm 5'4.5 and 144... hopefully I'll be under 140 by Thanksgiving.
I am in... I am 5'4" and approximately 160 lbs (could be less I am weighing myself tomorrow morning). I am hoping I am only 155 lbs and could get to 150 by Thanksgiving. I will update tomorrow with the weight.
My goal is to lose 8 lbs by the end of Nov so I will most def join you! Its been rather hard. I binged on the first night of my diet. Any suggestions?
Oh for sure!
I'm 21, 5'3" and am currently at 118...five lbs crept up on me the past 2 months and I definitely want them gone again.
Count me in. I think I could lose 5 lbs by Thanksgiving.
I weigh once a week. I usually weigh on Thursdays.
On Thur. I was 257. I had to take predinosone yesterday and today so I may not have a drop this week.

I'm in. I'm about 202 lbs. right now. Can't seem to break under 200.
Doing WW Meetings for about 2 months now but just can't seem to
make the break. Need help. Would love to get 5 lbs. off before
Thanksgiving. Looking for support from you ladies.....
Wow, I was JUST about to start the same topic when I saw yours. Yes! Five by Thanksgiving!
I'm 5'6.5", and I've gone from 160 to 140-145. I've been hovering there for a while now, and would love to break 140 in time to go home for thanksgiving!!
Great to hear from all of you! How about we write a little bit about our situations to get acquainted. (I know some of us have already!)
I started off at 150, and I have been yoyoing between 145 and 136 for about two years now. I had just gotten back into the swing of things and was working out a lot and losing about a pound a week, and then I sprained my ankle last weekend running! I haven't been able to work out for 5 days, and I drowned my sorrows in Halloween candy of course! Over the weekend I regained the two pounds I had just lost and an extra one on top of that. I think I will be able to do some light exercise in just a couple more days (I HOPE!!!) but until then I am trying to keep my calories low to get back on track. Yesterday I knew I was going to have a couple of glasses of wine with my best friend so I hardly ate anything all day. Once I got to the restaurant I was s starving I ate 3 oz of tortilla chips and a few french fries on top of the wine, and ended up with an intake of 1750, which is about what I burn anyway. So I'll call yesterday a draw. Today I am focusing on eating healthier food-- an apple and tea for breakfast, a salad w/ tuna for lunch, muscle milk lite for a snack (I really need protein, had hardly any yesterday!), and I don't know what for dinner, maybe a bean and vegetable dish...
Anyway, that's where I'm at. How about you? ![]()
I am with you! I am 22, 5'5, and 150 lbs. I am so sad to say 150 because I was doing so well and just about a month ago I was down to 142 and I went up to about 145 and have gone up from there weighing in on Monday at 150. I have been around 150 for the past year and half and I would love to get down to a goal weight of 130-135. I really wanted to be at 142 by my Europe trip on 11/20, so I am trying the South Beach Diet, Phase 1 to help jumpstart, but I know I will must likely not lose 8 lbs by then. I started SBD Monday and did very well, but yesterday I was 200 cal OVER and today I am trying again. If I could get back down 5 lbs by Thanksgiving I will be soooo happy! I work out regularly usually 5 times a week doing 60 mins of cardio and 30 min vigourous weights alternating days between arms/back, legs, and abs, so I have the exercise down, but I can not seem to get the food consumption under control.
I hope your ankle gets better soon! I know how frusterating it is when an injury postpones progress.
This sounds completely doable. I'm in. I like the Thursday weigh in idea.
I have pretty much been in maintenance mode through the end of the summer and just started slowing down on my workouts. So I'm hoping to get back into it and having a forum like this to hold us accountable for the next 3 weeks should work.
I'm 5'5.5 and weigh between 130-134. I'll weigh in tomorrow on our first official weigh in day.
How's this gonna work? Should we check in daily? Weekly?
I'm totally in too! I'm 5'7" and currently 152. Want to get down to 135, so lets start this!
hmm i just weigh today and not lost any weight at all this week,,,last week i lost 6lbs,,but this week stuck at 236 ,,but i lost 1 inch in my waist,,, ive been exercising everyday and keeping at 1200 cal a day,,hmm what up with that,,,ill keep trying,,maybe increase the exercising,,,,
Don't get discouraged. One week through Weight Watchers I lost five pounds. For the last two weeks still doing the same thing I've lost nothing. I just plan to keep plugging away and incorporating more exercise. The pounds didn't come on overnight. It's been about a ten year process. So my two months at W.W. isn't going to do magic. Now that I'm 51 years old it seems to be even harder. I must watch everything I put into my mouth and exercise. Again hang in there your definitely not alone.
I could use a push! I just can't seem to keep myself on a consistant path, so maybe this will be the kick start to get me really going. Plus this is the beginning of some tough two months- can't bring in the New Year another pant size bigger :)
(oh, and hi Zeema- totally didn't mean to stalk you :))
That's why I'm here. If I go up one more pant size due to the holidays there will be alot of tears in 2010...... And not happy tears. We'll do it with the help of this site....
Weight Watchers ladies- don't be discouraged! My mother lost 120 lbs in a year and a half with weight watchers and is still going, but only about a pound a month now because her body is running so much more efficiently now.
So it's weigh-in day...
This morning I weighed 144 lbs, which is more than I weighed when I started this thread. I cannot wait to get back into the gym. Soon I hope! Dumb ankle...
How about you guys!
I'm in!
I have lost 15 lbs this year, but have been in this fluctuating awful plateau for months. This small goal should hold me accountable.
My first mini goal is to get under 170, and guess what? A 5 lb goal will do it!
Since today's Thursday and we're doing Thurs weigh-ins, what a great day to start. Count me in.
Slimby - Let's do this!!! 5lbs by Thanksgiving! Glad to have you in here for support :)
Raynsong - Wow, awesome to hear about your mom's accomplishments! Hope your ankle gets better too!
Ok...Day 1, weighed in at 132.5 this morning. Which is less than I expected. But hey, if I can dip into the 120's by Thanksgiving I'll be happy.
I took in about 1,800 cals yesterday, but also did a P90X legs/back workout, so I think it was a good start to the next 3 weeks.
