Five Pounds in Five Weeks - Be Five Pounds Lighter by July 11th
We started this at work, where we're all suffering from "Hacker Spread". Thank you, IT Industry, for making it possible to 1) make a living sitting on my behind all day and 2) afford to eat lunch out every day.
I'm going to be honest. I'm 5'8" tall and I weigh 208 pounds. My coworker is 5'6" tall and weighs 187 lbs. Since we've both got a lot of weight to loose, we've broken it in to 5 pound chunks. 5 pounds isn't nearly as inimidating as 65 pounds.
This is our second round of the 5 pound challenge and I thought maybe some of you other folks would like to join us. Our goal is to be five pounds lighter by July 11th.
We don't care if you need to loose 200 pounds or 10. You're welcome to join in our little challenge.
"Weigh ins" will be on Thursdays, so that we can either commiserate or rejoice together. All you have to do is weigh yourself on the same scale every Thursday and keep up the new healthy lifestyle.

Wow - this is exactly the group I need. I need to lose 5 - 10. 5 Would make mew overwhelmingly happy if I could do it in 5 weeks. I am committed to 1,200 calorie (or slightly above) days, and fitting in cardio / outdoor exercise at least 5 days a week. Since Monday, I've been doing great. (I realize that's only 2 days, but hey - got to start somewhere.)
CW as of this morning was 117.6.
GW by July 11 is 112 - 113.
H: 5'3", small-medium frame.
The hardest part is going to be the weekends!

I lost the first 5 pounds, but I haven't been doing so good calorie-wise lately so I think a mini-goal will be a great help to give me the kickstart I need again!

I agree, the hardest for me is to last the weekends without eating everything i can get my hands on.
I'm 5'6".
Last Tuesday I was 127.4, yesterday I made the mistake of weighing myself mid-afternoon and was 134.4 (thanks to 4 nights of bingeing and TTOM). So I'm somewhere in the low 130's.
Goal for July 11: I would LOVE to be 124-125.

That is the idea. Rinse and repeat as necessary :)
Count me in. I like the idea of breaking it into chunks of 5 pounds. I already weigh in on Thursday morning so this is perfect. I hate the fact I sit on my butt all day at a computer too...that's how I gained it all in the first place...well that and all the good food! See you all on Thursday.

I will be leaving the city for a 3mth contract in the middle of nowhere as of 3rd July. Would be great to be able to weigh in each week with everyone up until then tho?

This is going to be tough since I'm not exactly on the heavy side, but I'll try it!
It may not seem like a lot of weight, but it is for me. I'm going up and down, but never down enough. I just can't seem to eat less than 1500-1600 a day, so I'm going to try to up the intensity of exercise, since I am kind of a lazy bum when it comes to exertion.
I am very much in on this challenge. You IT folks are such good problem solvers!

A little more info: I am a competitive rower and all around active athlete type. I was an athlete in college and high school and coached after graduating. The challenge when you have a ton of muscle is staying lean on top of all that muscle. As an athlete, you're always hungry and as a professional, there is no time to eat properly. So, I am basically a mess. This way I can focus.
I want to join up too! 130's here I come!! I love groups they have really helped on my weight loss journey. It's been getting tougher as I've been getting smaller but I've been getting smaller!! sorry but It's hard for me to believe.

The current plan is to meet back here on Thursday and post your weight. On July 11th, we'll post the sum total of what we've lost. Hopefully, it will be at least 5 pounds.
At that time, I'll start a new thread for those of us that need to loose more than 5 pounds.
I'll look into forming a group.
