Fixes and Updates

By Igor on May 19, 2009 08:12 AM in Tips & Updates

I just wanted to point out some of the changes we have made recently which you may not know about:

- Weight Gain Diets - can be determined with the calorie target tool and set as an account option on signup or in settings

- Pediatric BMI limits using the CDC boys/girls classifications (ages 2-20).  The BMI tool uses these automatically for users under 20 and it is also used to make better healthy weight recommendations on signup.

- Clarified the body frame types, replacing the previous fingers-around-wrist method with classifications based upon tape measurements

- Improved ideal weight calculations (on signup) based upon body frame

Great.  Bring the more accurate CC classic weight log graph back.

* snif! *

I wanna' water Meter!!! Wink

I Love the efforts to Improve this Great site-- Bugs and all, lol! Thanks! Laughing

(Even if you did cause me to wonder if I'm a medium frame instead of the small frame I've Cherished for so long!!! At least my BONES were SMALL-- I thought!)SurprisedWink

P.S.-- We could really use some more Eloquent Smileys... A skeptical one? Laughing

Wow!!! You actually changed the weight graph settings, too! Cool

I'd actually Created a Second-self, (2beittybitty2), so I could see a clearer weight graph, as a 2 year graph was hiding my new efforts in it's attempt to show such a wide time period... day-by-day was lost in the month-by-month... Frown

I have some WILD graphs now-- first year, second year, new start... VERY different!!!!

I do wish I could have the option of a, 'since I came to CC,' weight graph... I learn a lot from observation... an over-all view is helpful.

Please-- never delete our older records here! I'll be working on my weight loss plans for a long time-- I want to keep being able to look back at what I've done-- Good and Bad-- and learn from my mistakes... Stopping logging was one-- with graphs to prove what a bad idea THAT was! SurprisedLaughing

And... I STILL want a water meter!!!

* pitiful wail! *  Wink

Thanks for all this good feedback. The water-meter is in the works, and no - we won't delete old records. There's a whole bunch of new UI and functionality improvements in the pipeline, and I'll announce them as soon as I can.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh..........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool

Thank you! My efforts to get that water in won't seem sooo 'Un-Cared-for,' lol! Laughing

*rubs hands together*

Eeeexcellent!

How do u do it????  I'm soooo gr8ful for this wonderful cost-free site.  I've only just got into it since my college days with full-time job and family are winding down as I graduate in a few more "papers" and 1 short course.  I especially need to buckle down to get rid of this 2o lb. college souvenir.   That was just for the master's degree, then I have to tackle my "freshman 15" that is still hanging on for dear life (right around my mid-section - ugh!).  And...it doesn't get easier as I just hit a birthday somewhere over 40.

After checking out fees for personal trainers/coaches - I decided to talk to myself and hire yours truly for this job.  I know myself best anyway, so why not pay myself those hefty fees of $65-$95 per session.  I told my 9 year old daughter the other day when I began my "training" that my trainer was calling me to the work out room, so I better go immediately.  It's really a super workout in my own room at my own convenience with FIRM  or Denise Austin workouts and the like.

I've already had a couple of sessions with my "no-nonsense" trainer and I must say that she's the best that money can buy - she just needs to be tough with me.

Since I became religious about logging my daily food intake, I'm amazed at what I have stopped popping into my mouth since I know I will disappoint my trainer later when I will have to log in my daily intake.

So...thanx from the bottom of my heart and I hope to have inspired others, as others have done so for me, let's all keep up the good work and share good news!!!

Great job! You and the rest of the team really make a huge difference in my and a lot of other peoples' lives.

Thanks.  After a few glitches at the beginning, some of these changes really make sense.  Even the "frame".. I always thought I was "large framed", even though I am at the lower end of my BMI.. your new determination using wrist measurement confirms that.  I appreciate all the time/effort/work you all put into this, and I feel comfortable relying on your direction again.

Yay!  I'm excited about the water meter too!  I put my water on my log--but it kind of clutters up my food log!  LOL!

And I have never been so excited as I was to see that I actually do have a large frame (I thought at my height maybe I was kidding myself thinking "I'm just big boned" Ha ha ha!)

Thanks for the awesome site!  It really is such a lifesaver!

So... when I saw someone else pining for the old classic CC's weight chart, I realized it wasn't just me who missed it. Any chance of bringin it back?

Agree - please bring the old-style weight chart back.

Is there a way to copy & paste multiple foods from one day to the next?  I'm very busy at work (which is when I update my food log), and I'd love to be able to select multiple foods from the previous day & paste them into the next day.  I tend to eat the same breakfast, for example, and once I cook something, I eat the leftovers for the next few days, so being able to just select that stuff would be immensely helpful!

libsterdc - nice suggestion.

Also - can you add a button  called "add food to recipe"  Thus one can just goto our tagged items and make a recipe by adding items instead of having to add each one manually.

Also - can you add the item# to each of the main page of the food - e.g. "tomotoes, raw" [46754].  right now you have to click on it before you can see the item # in the web address.

Those would be GREAT additions, Christopher.

I also find it frustrating that when I click on a food, it takes me to the nutrition information.  I then select the serving size I want and click "add to log," but then I have to select the serving size AGAIN and click "add to log" again in order to get the food to transfer.  This seems duplicative, and I've often added the wrong serving size by accident becuase once I've selected it once, I've assumed it's been selected on the second screen.  Once I've selected the serving size I want, it should stay there.  I can't tell you the number of times I've scared myself by adding on a CUP of olive oil when I meant to add a TABLESPOON.

@libsterdc and @christopherreichert: those are great comments, notes taken.

Is there an opportunity to develop a 'drag-and-drop' interface for tracking foods consumed across multiple days?  May help with libsterdc's request.  I know I am in the same situation.

Also-great site, can't say thank-you enough.

Seems like the site was updated once again, but one of the changes is reducing the functionality of the site.  I set up a bunch of tags for 100 grams of items that are not included in the CC database.  When I want to eat a quantity other than 100 g, I just enter the food, select the radio button for 'Values per 100 g' and then alter the quantity to fit how much I ate.  Up until today, CC would do all the rest of the math for me.  Now, I can't figure out what it is trying to do when I use the 'values per 100g' button, but it isn't letting me use custom quantities of the foods I've entered.  I really depended on this feature and am kind of devastated that it doesn't work anymore.  I am really dreading all of the extra time I will have to waste doing the math on this.  Please, please switch this feature back!

Same here!  For some reason, I'm getting an error that says "unable to calculate grams!" or something like that whenever I try to put in a .5 cup instead of a full cup.  I find that if I just keep clicking "add to food log" it eventually will update the food anyway, but it freaked me out the first time it happened.

This is what I'm getting sometimes:

"Please fix the following problems and retry:

·Invalid food weight (grams) entered"

This happens randomly - can't tell when it's going to happen & when it 's not.  For example, it did it when I clicked on Kraft ranch dressing, but it didn't do it again when I clicked on it again.

I have wondered the same thing many times - I tend to eat the same of just a few items for breakfast - it's a real pain having to switch each item.  Being able to switch over a complete meal from day to day would be a great time saver. - by the way, I love this free website.  It is really healpful, and I don't cheat beacause I have to face my own diet coice reality!  Great job!

I very much appreciate this site. It is the first time I have ever found a way to diet that works for me.

Iwould also like to suggest as others have that there be a way to select tagged items in recipes as a means to enter repeated identical meals.

Thanks for this effort.

Also, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to search the recepies.  What order are they in anyway?

This site has been great and has really helped me. However, it would be extremely helpful to be able to edit a recipe that I have added once I have saved it.  Now, I have to create a whole new recipe whenever I change ingredients to try to get an accurate calorie count.

Also, when adding my own recipes, it is hard to adjust if I have had less than a serving although it may just be that I haven't figured out how to do this other than manually changing the calorie count.

Finally, it would be great if there were some graphs that would show activity over a week or a month or if the system could calculate miles run in a week instead of minutes.

Thanks so much for this great site!

I would love to have a way of adding a custom food (i.e. one not found in your data base that I have entered and tagged for the food log) into a recipie and actually have the recipie analyzer pick up the nutrition info from the form I filled out to have logged in my food log.

In addition, it would be nice if the recipie analyzer also included American measurements of a serving (i.e. cups, oz) instead of just grams. I have measuring cups, but currently do not have a kitchen scale. (I am "not sure where the rent is coming from" poor and haven't found a free one yet)

Thank you for providing a free site.
