The flabby stomach overhang known as "the mother's apron"
Reason: moved to new Health & Support forum :)
ok, so I have been reading in here for a bit today, and see there are allot of folks who have a problem with getting rid of the "Mothers Apron" or the "Fat Flap" or "Belly Flap" or "Dead Hanging Skin" . . . what ever you wish to call it ~ there doesn't seem to be much help in the way of quickly getting rid of it ! Unless if you have the money for Abdominoplasty.
It Seems that Moms are not the only ones affected by this either, there are people who have lost lots of weight, whose skin has been so stretched ~ that once they lose the Weight... they are still left with this flap of skin that either takes FOREVER to get rid off ~ With high intensity workouts, or you have to have an operation either a Tummy Tuck or Lipoplasty that will leave permanent scaring! That was the only 2 options available out there. The Swelling can take 2 - 3 weeks to go down, and it can take up to 3 Months to see the final results ! And Not just Women but Men have this Problem also ! Do we all have what it takes to go THERE ?
I would like to think that there is a better way~ a more natural way. It would also be nice if it was effective immediately !! Wait ~ what am I saying .... I already know a way....
I'm an apron wearer too. Twins for me - over 6 and 7 pounds each (and 2 placentas). C-section scar is still numb and despite weighing around 20lb less than per pregnancy still get asked if I'm expecting!!
I've been working really hard for about a year now, but not seeing that much progress I'm afraid :(
Oh my god i thought i was the only one who obsessed with this problem. I feel so ugly and never sexy my man has never seen me stand up naked before only laying flat down so it spreads I hate it more then amything in this world and i always had a nice stomach. Now im like a alien with this i have not seen my wowo since god knows i have to lift it up just to shave . Please help me and please let me know is there anything i can do. I run and exercise almost everyday i have lost 35 lbs and will lose another 50 but will i ever be sexy again??????
My daughter weighed 11 lbs! No meds at all. My ugly belly though is more from years of weighing over 270 lbs. 303 was my highest. I've lost over 70 lbs. but I swear the emptier it gets the worse it looks! I know there will be no fix without a scalpel but my hubby still loves me far as I can tell and I can cross my legs now so oh well.
Ladies,
It's time to forgive the butt belly! Hahha. I was just at the gym and saw a woman who had one and it reminded me of my own. I must admit, hers looked pretty unattractive to me. But, I've made a sort of peace with my own.
The thinner you get the worse it looks until you are REALLY thin. Maybe invest in that tuck if you hate it so much. I think I may someday.
At least you have men who are forgiving of it. Believe me, not all are.
Have a good one...
ok, so i just found out about this thing you can get, and I have tried it, and I lost 11.5 inches with it on the first use !! It is a natural herbal cosmetic applicator that you put on your skin like a patch, and wear it a minimum of 45 minutes, right, or you can wear it while your sleeping (which it what I did
) anyway it works by detoxing your lympth system and gets it working like it's suppose to (it removes latent toxins, fat, etc out of your body), mostly it is for your skin, ok, it tightens and tones and firms the skin, so you can see how that would work . A friend of mine who had lost some 70 pounds years ago... tried it to, because she has that apron also ~ she called it dead skin cause to her, thats what it was. She walks every day, and exercises and watches what she eats, and it still hasn't gone away. I can't afford the tuck, so this looks like a neat and easy way around it to me. Of course Lifestyle change always plays the main part, but this will certainly help me.
It will definately help you get your sexy back girls !!
carolmic- so what's this miracle called?
Thanks...
Hi Yoliechula ! Well I bought mine at this site here. Hope that helps. I'd go with the Wrap, it's $49.00 us {wholesale cost as a LC}(4 pack = enough to wrap once a week so it's a months supply basicly ~ that's if you become a Loyal Customer ~ which all you need to do is buy 1 thing {no matter the price} for 3 months in a row, and if you wish to discontinue after that call customer service and tell them and if you leave your account in good standing you can go back anytime and reorder at the wholesale cost ! If you want to help others lose inches too you could become a Distributor and earn monthly commissons ~ lol so you would be losing inches and getting paid to do it !! lol I think its a good deal.

I just joined the site after finding this particular post on a Google search. I was starting to think my family was the only one with this horrid problem. I too have this gross saggy pouch. I recently had my second child (but have had the pouch forever) and have lost all but about 8 pounds of baby weight. The problem is that the only article of clothing getting looser is my bra
I try to eat lots of lean protein, vegetables, and fruit as well as do aerobic activity most days of the week. But all it is giving me is muscular legs and a flat chest. Those that say they have had success in shrinking the pouch, what specifically are you doing?
Well, my pouch is alive and well. But I can relate to the boob shrinkage. They're always the first thing I lose when I lose weight, too. :(
That's me Ms. big belly flat chest. Haha. Well, I exaggerate, but I noticed that people who have the pooch have it for good biological reasons. For instance, my ancestors came from a part of the world where wild animal attacks were common but running away wasn't an option. Thus, the reason my body thinks keeping fat on my stomach will protect my vital organs.
If only my body understood that it's 2009 and animals don't attack people anymore. Sigh.
Good Luck.. Don't be tooooo hard on yourself....
Well financegirl, what I am doing is using the Body Wrap, to detox and clear out the lympth system, since that is where all the excess stough is stored that your body doesn't know what to do with = celulite, fat etc. The wrap helps the toxins to get out and create a better flow in your system, so things will work better. It also helps burn off a small portion of stored fat, and tightens, tones and firms lose sagging skin. It is working for me ~ everyone is different ~ so you would just have to give it a try to see what all it could do for you ! So far I have lost an average of 10 inches in 3 separate measured spots on my stomach area (a total of 31.5 ~ when I last measured. Since I am limited with my income, I only do these wraps once in a while, but you can do them once every 72 hours, as that is how long it takes your lympth system to dump the toxins out. Just keep trying different things until you find what works for you, people tend to try 1 thing and if it doesn't work, they stop and get "hung up" there, but you have to get trying different things to find your way. I am currently trying to get my buttinsky into a pair of pants I have had for 2 years, and I have never been into them yet ~ but I am getting closer and I just discovered ~ I almost fit into a zippered fleece lined spring jacket ~~ lol ~~ it was my Hubby's ~~ Guess it's soon going to be mine and it goes nicely with my "new" Pants lol !!
Best of Luck with your search Kiddo !!
What styles of clothing have you found that work best for hiding the unsightly bulge? Obviously pleats are our enemy!
Flat front pants. Some even come with a built in tummy slimmer. Try structured materials like denim which keep you in. Also, support undies can be bought almost anywhere. A nice supportive undie can act like a bra for your bottom half.
