Flat Belly Diet
Has anyone tried the Flat Belly Diet and had results good or bad? I bought the book but have yet to do anything with it.
Reason: Moved from Young Calorie Counters to Weight Loss.
I have never heard of it, and judging from the title, it seems like a bunch of bullpucky. It's impossible to create a diet to target just the belly.

Heres a great website on this!! Ive never tried it, but it seems that the combination, including the 'sassy' water, contain ingredients that are natural anti-bloaters.
I'm using it and I love it! It keeps me full and satisfied and I can construct my own meals as long as they are 400 calories and I don't go 4 hours w/out eating. I also have to include a 'good' fat with every meal. it's really awesome.
My mom tried this diet and it worked really well for her. She lost almost 8lbs the first week. I'd try it but it's not really for vegetarians. =)
I am 6 days into the diet and went smoothly through the 1200 calories, who knew?? I couldn't believe that I wasn't hungry. First day was tough, but the rest went smoothly. And I felt GREAT! I was in a good mood and had a lot of energy. Cut the caffiene, and the wine, easy (daily drinker of both) Love the Sassy water too.
The thing? Now I am into the 1600 calorie part and eating 4 meals 4 times a day and I AM SO FULL! It just seams like I am eating all the time. I am normally a pretty hungry person, so this is pretty cool, but I have to force myself to eat and that feels weird.
Anyone else on the diet feel this way?
Ooh - this sounds interesting! I might have to try it! ( :
Edit- i'm a veg*n but I think I can go on this diet xoxo

I see! I'm not exactly a vegetarian but I don't eat meat often, so I'll keep that in mind.
Minus the first 4 day anti-bloat section, they do have a whole section on vegetarian meals you can eat. Also the section they have on frozen/ready made foods that are listed in the book are almost entirely vegan.
I am on day 1, I picked up the book and saw that it really is less about being on another fad diet and more about eating right with the right amount of stuff. Though I think my husband thought it was nuts I bought it more for the recipes and guides since I am very much a list person. I also hope this will jump start me since I lost about 20 -25 lbs already and the last 2 months I haven't seen any results in my midsection (just my thighs)
I am stuffed though after only 1 day and I did check calorie counter and the 1200 calories seems to be right on (not sure how many if any is in the Sassy Water) I think mainly because eating every 4 hrs is tough. I figured this should adjust once our bodies get used to it, especially since I am still excersizing as I always do.
Can anyone explain sassy water to me?

It is basically just an anti-bloat dextox drink. It has ginger to help the gi and lemon which removes impurities. It is one to get your body ready but also to show results quickly :P since you shed your water wait its supposed to get you more ready I guess? Of course I was stuggling with drinking it instead of coffee, but minus the massive headache yesterday im actually feeling better already.
it also has mint and cucumber so it tastes pretty good.
Hi there katiespittle,
I've been on the Flat Belly Diet eating program since December 11th and have taken off 28lbs with very low physical activity. As a guy, I think it's interesting that the book is so directed toward females when it's got good sound advice for men too.
My wife got the book and asked for me to join her on the diet. I reluctantly agreed and grumbled my way through the first week anti-bloat. This was a good little reset of my mindlessness in the food dept. and it gave me some perspective on the rest of the plan.
I'm really not very concerned with the anti-bloat part of the diet, but I am really taken with the simplicity of the three primary rules:
1) Eat Four Times a Day
2) Eat 400 Calories at each meal (preferrably nutritionally balanced).
3) Eat a MUFA at every meal.
The book lauds monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAS) as having properties that specifically target belly fat. I have my doubts about this claim (I think that fat belongs to the whole body and it will probably come off in the order it went on), but if it's true that would be awesome.
The great thing about MUFAs in my book is that those calories are very satisfying! So much so, that I told my wife that I could see myself eating this way for a year.
Of couse, if I achieve to my goal before then, I'll increase my calories to a maintenance level (which will seem like too much food by then)...
I'm learning a lot and am glad to have a plan I can stick with.
All the best,
Groo812
I did this diet, lost weight and yeah I definitely felt like I was forcing myself to eat. I just felt so full, I should really go back on it. I had a little bit of a hard time with it b/c I keep kosher, no milk and meat together, no shrimp, pork etc. So if anyone has recipes that conform to this. It would help a lot. Thanks![]()
Hi all. This is my first post here. I've been using this site to check calorie counts for the last 3 months. I did join, but never posted.
My girlfriend received the Flat Belly Diet book as a gift from her mom and we started it on Jan 2, 2009 (Jan 1 was dedicated to watching football and eating). I'm a 48yo male, 6'2" and was 227 lbs. I have a medium build and carried a spare tire. After 3 months following the guidelines in the book, I am now 189 lbs. I actually eat fish twice per week!! My GF has lost 25 lbs during the same time. We have created a journal for the 4 meals/day for a week. We change it up every now and then, but we do have some favorite meals that we have every week.
My biggest challenge with eating is junk food. Shortly after starting this plan, we purged all junk food out of the pantry. I cut out diet soda and only drink water. I was never a coffee drinker. We eat out once per week. We get a 6" Subway sandwich with no fat honey mustard, no cheese, no mayo and bring it home and have an apple with it to make it 400 cals.
As far as exercise goes, I don't except for walking. I bought a pedometer and found that I average 3 miles per day at work. On slow days, I take a 30 to 40 minute walk around the plant that I work at twice a day. During the winter we did some mall walking on a day off.
All in all, I feel that the plan is well balanced. The book is definitely geared towards women, but it can work for all. We ditched the "sassy water" after the first four days. Seemed to be a pain to keep making everyday. We also bought the Biggest Loser calorie counting book to reference foods that don't have labels. The Flat Belly Diet Plan book and Biggest Loser book are on the kitchen counter all of the time along with the meal journal.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
