Flat Belly Diet

Quote  |  Reply

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this, what it entails, and if someone could give me the basic guidelines of it.  Its supposed to help you lose the dangerous kind of fat around your stomach, but as far as I can see, they also want you to buy a book that goes along with it.... :-/

anyone care to explain the concepts to me please?

What is the exact receipe for the water? As far as their food.... can you make your own modifications? Some of the stuff suggested seems costly and unappetizing to adults and kids *LOL* Somebody ask ... can you repeat the jumpstart for the whole 32 days and how long can you stay on the diet  ... prolonged weight loss? I have 60 pounds to lose. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Sassy Water

Ingredients

2 liters water (about 8 and 1/2 cups)
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced
1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
12 small spearmint leaves.
Directions Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher and let flavors blend overnight. Drink the entire pitcher by the end of each day.

I bought the $32.00 flat diet book..... 6 days later I threw it in the garbage! I tried it and followed it to the T and didn't cheat. My stomach nor my pockets were happy. Lost 1 pound that week. So... Tried the South beach that everyone is talking about (even my doctor). I lost 4 pounds last week and 3 this week.  GUESS WHAT?!?! My family even likes some of the recipies and my tummy is  not bloated anymore :)

I bought the book, and I agree with most of you, it's a waste of money. The 4-day anti-bloat didn't do anything for me, I didn't see any change on the scale. The 3 meals a day and one snack pack didn't really work for me either because I prefer to have 5 small meals a day, keeping a food journal of everything I eat and drink throughout the day.

To bad it didn't work though, I was hoping it would be the answer to all my problems.

Yeha i have to agree with kelilah21. I have been doing sit ups for the past 4 months virtually every night before going to bed. I do a 100 cruches, 50 side crunches, 50 crunches with your feet in the air and a push up plank. I now have a flat tummy (bare the natural shape of a stomach) and a nice 2 pack definition.

Best way is to start of one week doing 20, then each week add another 2 to your routine. And slowly when you get to a point where you can do no more, stick at the count.

My wife decided she wanted to do the diet and since I do most of the grocery shopping and cooking and need to lose 40 lbs., I agreed to work on it with her.  I have been on the program for five weeks and lost 15 lbs. (started at 202, right now weigh 187, I am 56, 5'10").  I like the program because it tells me what to eat and I think it gives me good food suggestions.

I am learning from this website the number of calories to burn to get my deficit.  I like using both sites, flatbellydiet gives me my daily/weekly meal plan and I can adjust the calories based on what this site recommends for me.

My only question on this site is how I should label my activity level to get my burn right.  From reading several other comments I have decided that I am going to put my activity level at the lowest level (I am a paralegal sitting at a desk most days) but I then enter my running and weight lifting for that day (training for an ultramarathon) and try to achieve my calorie deficit that way.

Let me know if you have any questions on the diet.

I find the guidelines to the Flat Belly Diet very easy to follow.  The main concept is adding a MUFA (monounsaturated fat) to every meal.  They recommend 400 calorie meals using whole, unrefined foods.  Since turning 40, 11 years ago,  I have found it difficult to loose and keep off 5-8 lbs.  With this plan I was successful in loosing  those 8 stubborn pounds.  As with any plan you must exercise to see the results you are looking for.  This is not a diet but a lifestyle change.  And one that I feel I can easily live with.  Good luck.

My dad and I started this diet  a week ago and we really like it! Since I'm a teen and still growing, and he's a grown man and needs more calories, we modified it slightly, but we still stick to the same basic rules.  The diet keeps me full and energized.  We make our own meals but make sure we stay around 400 calories a meal, don't go 4 hours without eating, and eat a MUFA (mono-unsaturated fatty acid) with every meal. I couldn't tell you how this works long term, because I don't know yet, but I really am having fun with it.

Hi,

Prevention magazine has web page that walks you through the diet with a week of menus and shopping list;
