flavored coffee and caloies?
ok..this may be somewhat of a stupid question but i am going to postit anyways :) does flavored coffee have calories? like those cool flavors like pumpkin spice or hazelnut etc...? it never says on the packaging, i dont suppose it would have any significant calories...but the unknown is always holing me back and my ED doesnt allow me to buy or choose it. i know black coffee has like 5 calories sometimes in a cup or something? but just wondering if anyone knew if flavored coffee(black without cream, milk or sugar or anything) has any calories that are significant?
does flavored tea have extra calories? no it doesn't... and neither does flavored coffee
UNLESS the flavorings are coming from sugar, cream, milk etc... read the ingredients on the label.
but typically it will be flavored with things like spices, cinnimon, flavor extracts.. etc. which contain very very few calories, if any at all
yeah thats what i thought....only like spices which have such insignificant cals in them...should just go for it and not worry if it has like 5 cals so stupid.
well..thanks :)
I agree with carmen about the brew-at-home coffee.
However...restaurants are sneaky. Dunkin donuts pumpkin spice coffee (small) has 110 calories and 24 grams of sugar. From what I could tell there isn't a non-sweetened option available.
yeah..thats why i was always wondering and put off..bc of dunkin donuts has like 20 cals (?) in a small black coffee(it does taste kinda sweet just black..hmm) but yes..it really shouldnt matter anyways :) just drink/eat what you enjoy and get on with life, right? a cup of coffee isnt ever going to hurt! its all just confusing when they dont put N facts on the coffee at stores...
its always a hard thing to eat things without specified n facts on them..but a goal is to just be able to eat what i want even if it has no label.

And that's a very good goal. ![]()
Put "pumpkin spice latte" into the food search here on CC, or go to Starbucks.com and use their nutritional information tool. Flavored starbucks drinks are pretty caloric. They have lots of sugar syrups, honey, caramel, and/or chocolate. Milk is caloric too, and if you don't specify non-fat, you will get whole or 2% or whatever their baseline milk product is.
My old favorite drink, a 12 oz. soy mocha, no whip, is 190 calories. My new drink is an Americano with a soy topper. Which doesn't blow away 1/3 of my calories for a full meal.
Oh I thought you were talking about things like Folgers Vanilla Hazelnut flavored coffee..etc?
I'm sure coffee shops will sneak extras in, unless it's just plain black coffee. They need business, and the best way to get business is to make their product good, making people want to come back for more.
If it tastes sweeter then normal coffee there might be something in it... I know Spanish coffee is LOADED with sugar, even though they serve it black.
yeah, I regretted drinking it back in Mexico, but by the time I realized I had already downed the whole thing
If we're talking about brewed coffee that's served black but has a flavour added to it, you're looking at about 5 cals per cup (same as plain ol' black coffee). Flavourings are added to the coffee beans during the roasting process.
If you're talking about instant coffee granules, there's definitely more calories hidden in there. Check the labels. And if it tastes sweet or has a colour other than dark brown (coffee coloured), there's more than 5 calories.
You can actually make your own flavoured coffee: put grinded beans in your coffee maker, mix in some cinnamon/vanilla extract/whatever and brew normally. You'll be able to smell the scent when you drink!
It really depends on the coffee. Most of Dunkin's flavors (French vanilla, hazelnut, etc) don't have any more calories than plain coffee. Their new pumpkin flavored coffee, however, DOES. I'm not even talking about the pumpkin latte! So you just have to be careful and look things up before ordering.
