I buy the carbonated fruit-flavored waters. They have 0 calories but are sweetened with aspartame. Can they adversely affect weight loss or health?

no, I do not think so...I drink them all the time and I have been steadly loosing weight...they are alot better then drinking high calorie drinks (soda, gatorade,etc..)
i wish i didn't drink as much flavored water as i do.  some people say that fake sugars make your body crave sweets, so you don't lose weight bec you end up eating calories you don't need.  i don't think that's really true for me, but it does make me uncomfortable that i ingest so much splenda every day.

Are they the kind with no artificial colors and no sodium? If so, I drink them on occasion and in moderation since they do not create "sweet cravings" for me and assist me in drinking an adequate amount of water each day. I also drink decaffeinated herb teas.

By the way, some are sweetened with aspartame, some are sweetened with saccharine, some are sweetened with sucralose. Opinions out there are mixed about the use of artificial sweeteners in a healthy diet, so you need to decide what is best for you.

Here's a great Mayo Clinic article on artificial sweeteners ... http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/diabetes-die t/NU00592

=^..^= MOLLY

I make my own flavored water. It isn't no calories but very low calorie and doesn't have artificial sweetners, just the sugar from the fruit. But I use very little fruit, depends on how fruity you want it. Just google "making flavored water" you'll get lots of ideas.

read this page and maybe think again about aspartame, okay?

although the last one is a bit more propaganda-y than the others....

Now, all of this MIGHT not be true...It might all be a bunch of phooey.

But really, I'm not going to gamble with my life over an artificial sweetener with that much bad about it.

Maybe ingesting aspartame now and then isn't bad...But I wouldn't drink it all the time. Stick to water, maybe flavor it with lemon juice?

I live by aspartame haha, its really the only way i get something sweet in my mouth, and I'm addicted to diet coke and flavored water (crystal lights water bottle drop ins). The aspartame isn't going to hurt your weight loss plans just make sure theres no real sugars, and no sodium, sodium is huge, because the more sodium you intake the more water weight your body's going to hold onto.

**Personally i have never gained even an ounce from drinking beverages with aspartame, such as diet coke, and crystal light.** I am not also saying that its good for you either though.

aspartame DOES hurt your weight loss plans.. :| it turns to fermaldahyde in your body and surrounds your fat cells, making it impossible for your body to break down its extra fat.
