I did a little googling and found the following recipes that use flax seed:

also, I have known some to sprinkle it on the salads, soups, cereal, and even some dishes (like you would, for example, sunflower seeds).

ALSO -- there is the following book with recipes using flaxseed (maybe you can find it at your local library):

Hope that helps!!

Thank you for taking the time to do that for me ... I'll definitely sift through them and find a yummy new way to get that extra flax seed in my diet.
Also make sure you keep in the refrigerator because it will go rancid quickly at room temp.

:)
just toss it into a smoothie and you're good to go.
I've put it in smoothies and applesauce.
I made chilli recently and even put it in there.  Doesn't change the flavor and if you don't over-add, doesn't really change the consistency either.
you only need 2 tablespoons a day of flax and it's easy to hide in things.  smoothies like dhm and shannon said, I sprinkle some on my oatmeal or cereal, and it stands up to heat well so you can hide it in baked stuff (muffins, breads, pizza dough) and in things like mashed potatoes (seriously, you don't know it's in there, especially if you're like me and you mash them with the peels on!)

I've been trying ground flax seed in my smoothies and it just doesn't taste good.  Anyone have other ideas on where to hide it?

I know that if it gets heated it loses most of it's beneficial properties so hot food is out.  The mashed potatoes sounds okay.

I like flaxseed meal pancakes, though, much like wholegrain pancakes, they're not for everyone. Don't worry too much about the heat destroying beneficial properties. Cooked flaxmeal is still a very nutritional food.

2 Tbsp flaxmeal

1 large egg

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp cinnamon

pinch salt

davincis or splenda to taste

Beat ingredients well & let sit 5 minutes. Cut 1/2 Tbsp butter, use for greasing griddle & use the remaining to top your pancakes with. I like to microwave my remaining butter with maple extract & davinci's.

You'll notice when you pour it that the batter is thinner than wheat pancakes, more like a crepe batter, so make sure your griddle is nice & hot so it doesn't spread out everywhere. Even if it does, however, it will still be tastey, just more crepe like. Flip them when they're bubbly on top, just like "normal" ones.

Makes 2 big pancakes! Entire recipe (including the butter) is just under 300 calories & a very filling nutritious breakfast.

You can also obviously also use the recipe to recreate crepes/blintzes. I like to flavour 1 Tbsp cream cheese with Davinci's & lemon extract, spread it on the "crepe" & microwave it for 30 seconds. Yum!
