Are you a Flexitarian?
I just read this article in Woman's Day magazine about what to do if you "think" you might want to become a Vegetarian, but are not sure. Read Full Story Click there to read more about it. I thought it was fascinating. I've read a lot of posts that "wanna be" Vegetarian but don't want to give up the flesh. I've also read posts where people didn't know if they are or not. Naturally, I'm not saying this is anyones answer, but it might make a decision a bit easier to make.
I will add that I am not for or against any side. I do know that I don't eat near as much red meat as I used to. I'm leaning more towards seafood. I just wanted to pass along this information. ![]()
I used to be more of a veg-head, but then my husband introduced me to rare steak and properly cooked bacon.
I can't help myself. I love blood, and seeing all that warm, juicy blood spray all over my plate when I hack into a hunk of meat only makes my mouth water even more.
I do know of a gal that I consider to be a flexitarian. She wants to be a vegetarian but can't give up the bacon. She says she goes months without eating meat and whenever we're out and about together and grab a burger, she swears it's the first bit of meat she's had since December. Except she said the same thing two weeks earlier when we went out for fajitas, and then a month before that when we went out for wings and beer..
I think this might be me. If there is a vegetarian option on a menu I will usually take it. I haven't eaten red meat for 15 years but I do eat fish and chicken once or twice a week. My friends say I am veggie which clearly I am not - since when was chicken a vegetable?
My mom will typically choose a non-meat dish, but has no problem eating meat - I'd consider her a flexitarian, I guess.
I had a friend who said he was vegetarian, but would if I ordered chicken fingers and didn't finish them, he'd eat them, rather than let them go to waste. He called himself a "scavenger vegetarian."
