floppy skin

I just read an article about a woman who lost 150 pounds and she had to have two major surgeries because she had so much excess skin. Has this happened to anyone else? is there any way to prevent it?

1.  Lose the weight slowly, without throwing your metabolism out of whack.  Loose, floppy skin is the excess fat left over when someone suddenly loses alot of weight quickly and therefore alot of muscle.

2. Weight train and exercise thoughout your weight loss, you want to replace the fat lost with muscle tone and try to keep the muscle loss that naturally happens with dieting to a minimum.

3. LOSE THE WEIGHT SLOWLY!!  I can't stress that enough.

I have lost over 150 pounds and did it SLOWLY on Weight Watchers.  I carried the majority of my weight in my stomach.  I worked out like a fool and couldn't lose my tummy.  I opted to do a tummy tuck a year and a half ago and am SOOOOOO thankful!!  My tummy is now flat and I'm happy with my looks now.  I lost my weight over 2 years but sometimes the skin on our bodies is too streched out to repair on it's own!
