Hi,
How much weight do you fluctuate in one day? Yesterday I was 11st3, today I am 11st6.
I'm trying not to focus on it too much because after all my trousers are still a bit baggy. :o)

2,3 lbs.
Usually I'm like 2 lbs heavier before bedtime, but back to normal weight in the morning. I weight in the morning, after hitting the loo and before brekki.

I can be up or down as much as 3.5 pounds in a day.
i fluctuate a pound or so. One day I weigh weight A and the next day I may weigh +1.0 but then it goes down the next day. These are weights first thing in the morning. I am a female and expect fluctuations especially around that time of the month.
There is a downward trend if you consider fluctuations and count your weight only once a week.

i have fluctuated as much as 6 lbs - this isn't usual but it has happened - but i do retain water so that could explain about 3 of those lbs - just keep on trucking
For me its usually between 2.5-6lbs. Seems Quite a bit doesnt it...
I was thinking, why do we take out weight First thing in the mornig? I dont weight that for the rest of the day at all. Wouldnt it make sence to go in the middle of the day? Or to just take the number in between from the morning and then at night?
I dunno. Makes sence to me...

The body has natural weight fluctuations. That's why I only weigh myself once to twice a week. That's enough to give me an idea of how much I've lost, and I don't fret over natural fluctuations.
I can fluxuate 1 to 3 pounds and attribute it to water weight. Particularly if I know I've been eating well, giving me no reason for a solid gain.
I agree with the weighing once a week. If you're unable to handle the 1 to 2 pound gains emotionaly, then weigh yourself less often. No point in adding unneeded stress.

Raz, weighing yourself in the morning before you eat or drink gives you a good standard to go by. The stomach is empty, your weight has not been effected by what you do during the day yet. If you weigh yourself in the evening, for example, your weight might fluctuate quite a bit from day to day depending on how much you drank, how much you ate, etc. It doesn't really matter when you weigh, as long as it's around the same time of day every time.
1-5 lbs per day.
As said, if you can't handle or understand the fluctuations, weight once a week and start measuring every day

Thanks for all the responses. In my head I know that I have natural fluctuations and reactionary ones. As my trousers that were too tight a fortnight ago are a little bit baggy aorund my belly today I am trying to still be happy.
Actually I am walking around my office keep putting my fingers inside my waist band to convince myself that its real!!
I threw out my scales at home because I agree with the less weighing less stress idea, but I go to the gym and there are scales there, there are scales at my moms house and my friends house, there are even scales in the ladies loos at work!! I just can't seem to curb the curiosity of knowing those little numbers.

Over the course of normal days I fluctuate a couple pounds, but then once a month I can shoot up 5-6 lbs in a day and stay that way for a few days. Yay, being a girl. I don't weigh much during that time of the month and if I do I don't take the weight seriously. I know it is just water retention.
The number on the scale isn't really important anyway. Just pay attention to its overall trend over time. Is it going up or down?

most days 1 don't fluctuate much more than a pound. Sometimes after a slurp day my weight will go up 5 or 6 pounds but it alaways goes back down after 3-4 days.
I have no idea how much I fluctuate during the day because I only weigh myself in the morning (after pee, before first chug of water like every one else on CC). But I can tell you that I fluctuate about 4 pounds during the week. Fridays are usually my lowest point (because I'm really good about eating healthily during the work week) and Mondays my highest (because I eat more on the weekends) but it's always within a 4 pound spectrum.
Oh
Thanks Plaidpooka! I understand it a lot better, and I do know that the stuff we input does add some weight to you near the end of the day, But I kinda thought that its just fooling ourselves since we're only at that weight one time in the day. I thought that it would be more sensable to take the middle of your fluctuation and have that as your weight.
But thats just me over thinking things again!
:-)

raz, I agree with Plaidpooka. the morning weight is the best indicator of real weight.
that said, any time of day that you weigh, as long as it's under similar circumstances, will be accurate to show weight LOSS.
For example, if you always eat breakfast at 7:30 and you always go to the gym at 10:30, and you wear the same gym clothes each time, you can weigh yourself on the gym scale, and over time your weight loss will be accurately reflected.
I weigh myself at night to get my highest weight for the day. I use the morning weight as my "lead" weight, to know when I've broken into a new low. I use my night weight to know when I've absolutely reached that new low.
I also weigh myself at night to get fat percentage and BMR, as those numbers are most accurate when your body is fully hydrated.

I seem to lose and regain the same 2.5 lbs every week. On Tuesday I weigh 132 and on Sunday I weigh 135 and then I repeat the process. Its very frustrating. Of course if I could be as virtuous on the weekends as I am during the week I could make some progress.
I once gained 9 lbs in one day! St. Patrick's Day binge on salty potato croquettes. But those 9lbs were gone within 3 days, and within 5 days I was actually DOWN another 1.6lbs.
I was literally driving myself insane with weighing myself every day. It started innocently enough... once a week. But then with all the water fluctuations we experience as girls, I wanted to catch it at it's "lowest" point. So if it wasn't today, maybe tomorrow... or tomorrow... and that's how I got to weighing myself every day. Now I just do it once every other week. I log my calories here and exercise when I can and generally try to do the right thing. I've gone up by as much as 9 pounds in 2 days.
If you check your weight the same time every day and use a program that uses a "least squares method" to calculate the trend then you can tell if you are losing weight. Remember a pint is a pound the world around. You take in far more water than food, and your water and "solid" loss will vary every day. By calculating the trend you eliminate this "noise" and get a true picture of what you weight is doing.
If you log your weight into Calorie-count it calculates the trend, follow it.

what is water retention by the way? And how do i know that my weight is fluctuating or showing high number due to water retention and i have not actually put on weight?
