I am booked to fly to my sister-in-laws wedding on July 24th. I will be 35 weeks pregnant. Before I booked I researched on line and everything said it was okay. It is only a 1.5 hour flight.
Since booking the flight EVERYONE has been telling me there is 'no way' I should be getting on a plane that far along.
I have a doctors appointment next week but he is VERY laid back and I'm sure would have no concerns even if maybe there should be.
Does anyone know?
!!! Check with your airline ASAP, most european airlines will not carry a pregnant woman past 34wks! And it is nearly impossible to get insurance past 28wks. It may be physically possible to fly at that stage, but as to whether you can fly is another story? I flew quite a bit during the early part of both my pregnancies, but as I got bigger I had to produce proof of how far along I was before I could fly! It may be different in the US, but I'd check just to be sure?
My sister-in-law flew last summer when she was about 32 weeks. I didn't think her doctor would go for it either, but he told her that flying at that point is actually better than driving.
If you are able to fly, I would suggest wearing a pair of support knee-high socks. They will prevent possible blood clots from sitting so long and will keep your lower legs from swelling up too much. I wear them throughout my pregnancies on the advice from my doctor to prevent vericose veins.
Wow... i had my baby at 35.5 weeks. Good luck. But if i were you i wouldn't fly. I would be too afraid to.
