Food combinations - better than the sum of their parts

Quote  |  Reply

What foods do you like better in combination that individually?

I'm thinking about simple, 2 (maybe 3) ingredient combinations, not recipes.

I have recently discovered that I LOVE dried pears wrapped around dry-roasted almonds.  I like dried pears and almonds, but together they're 10x more amazing.

Another longstanding favorite combination is dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts - I like both plain, absolutely love them together.

lettuce wrapped in ham (and cheese, if you'd like)

cottage cheese and grapes

dates and peanuts

cereal and yogurt and/or cottage cheese

Sandwich meat and pickles

Light cheese and pickles

Light cheese and sandwich meat

Oooor, best of all...

Sandwich meat and light cheese and pickles! XD

Okay, on to less repetitive combos:

Apples and cinnamon

Any fruit dipped in yogurt

Celery dipped in BBQ sauce (don't knock it till you've tried it!)

Almond butter and pears (similar ^_^)

There are health benefits to certain food combinations, did you know that?   Basil, tomatoes and garlic is one example.  Individually, all great foods but put them together and the effect is amplified... why, they're not sure.  Presumably the ancients put them together because they taste great, but it's nice to know there are fringe benefits!

Personal favourites

Apple Pie or Rich Fruit Cake with crumbly Cheshire Cheese

Roast Lamb with Rosemary and Garlic

Smoked Salmon with Scrambled Eggs

Grated Carrots with toasted Sesame Seeds

cottage cheese and fresh pineapple

scrambled eggs and cheese

scrambled eggs and toast

raisins and peanuts

yogurt and granola

beans and cheese

cheese and crackers

Kix cereal and banana

celery and peanut butter (it's yummy to add raisins too!) or lite ranch dip

chocolate and peanut butter

honey and peanut butter

banana and peanut butter

crackers and peanut butter

pretty much anything and peanut butter Smile
