What are some food combinations for weight loss?

I would like to know if it is okay to mix carbohydrates and protein in one meal.  If so, what are some good combinations.

You do not have to combine foods in any particular way to lose weight.  The premise of the “food combination” diet is not valid, even though it's been popular since the 1920s.  Supposedly, when starches and meats are eaten at the same meal, they impair nutrient absorption, and weight gain ensues.  But that flies in the face of eating habits around the world as well as over time.  Certain food combinations enhance nutrient absorption, they do not affect weight.  Vitamin C enhances iron uptake, and so eat an orange with black beans as they do in Brazil.  Read about the food combining diet from the Guide to Alternative Medicine at About.com.
