I don't really know how much I subscibe to this, but I'm always willing to give something the benefit of the doubt.

Food combining was a popular a few years ago but it's generally accepted now to be rather faddish. http://www.annecollins.com/diets/food-combini ng-diets.htm (typical link). If people lose weight it's often because food combining eliminates one or other food from the dinner plate.... hence making the calorie-count smaller.... or that they're having to think about their diet for the first time and eating becomes more conscious... also a good way to eat less.
I definitely wouldn't follow a 'food combining' or 'Hay diet' as it advocates eating carbohydrates and sugars separately from protein.
I do the opposite and always try to eat protein whenever I eat carbs as eating protein with carbs helps to maintain a stable blood sugar level thus preventing me from getting low blood sugar and grabbing the nearest high sugar snack in sight.

Sounds a bit like what I started doing to lose weight... I was advised by a nutritionist and it worked. I don't do most of that anymore, though I do eat complex carbs by themselves like spaghetti with vegetables/tomato sauce only, no meats... And I eat beans by themselves as soup, or with a salad. Meh, I really don't know. It did work when I needed to and I felt great. I just couldn't continue living without dairy, I like yogurt too much and I enjoy having oatmeal for breakfast. I was having only fruit and that was nowhere near enough to keep me active through exercise after a day at work/school. O.o
Thank guys, and sorry about the link. Common sense tells me that combining fats, protein and carbs is the most logical route. The only reason I was interested was that I've had quite a problem (relatively speaking of course) with digestion and being uncomfortably full (my stomach extends to epic proportions and I'm uncomfortable for hours). I think I just may have to call a spade a shovel and accept that I have to eat lots of very small meals in lieu of three standard ones with snacks.
Truth is, this woman kind of grates on me.
I tried the Fit For Life program, well, that was maybe 20 years ago. I think it is a healthy way to eat, not like some of the fads we've seen over the ages. And I felt fantastic while I was doing it. But I'd have to say that it is very limiting, and difficult to keep up long term. And it does not save you from having to keep track of calories or getting daily exercise either. Quite frankly, I get just as much benefit now, eating a healthy but less limiting diet and getting daily exercise.
So in short, I think it's fine, but why bother?
I thought there may be some insight into problems associated with how foods are digested differently.
There must be some truth to it, vitamins and minerals are absorbed differently based on this aren't they? For example, calcium needs vitamin D.
So, I don't know about the links you had, but I've been doing fit for Life, which is a food combining diet, and only when i am on it do I lose any weight. I'v been following it losely and not losing as much as I desire so i think i have to get strict again. this summer I reached my goal weight food combining....I wasn't even counting calories, and I was able to eat sweets. right now i'm on no dairy, no sugar and counting calories...and let me tell you...progress is slooooow.
food combining is amazing, it just makes sense, give your body a break, no processed b.s. and only give your body what it can handle
plus it gives you energy. i don't feel too energized on the days I desperately eat only 1200 calories(badbadbad)
I would recommend the fit for life book, definately worth a try, and you don't have to go all the way, but implementing those principles works very well, I know alot of people who tried it and have never heard anything but praise. good luck
