"You can specify any item from our database to be used as an ingredient by entering its ID in square brackets
1 cup milk [88683]"
How do I find that number?
I'm looking for cocoa powder, because the database lets me add it as a food, but I want to add it as part of a recipe and it says it can't be "found or sized"
Thanks!
The food reference number for individual items is the trailing number displayed on the food item's nutritional breakdown page
Example: 11282 in the following link
http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/item/11282.h tml
(Where you would type a web address)
For: Onion Raw
You would enter into your recipe like this: 1 small [11282] * note * [these brackets]
Hope this helps!
Sometimes the Recipe Analyzer can't size an ingredient because of the way the serving size is expressed in the data base.
For instance, in the case of most canned soups, instead of cups, ounces or grams, it's 1 serving. The Analyzer can't recognize "serving" as a valid measurement, so we get the error message of "cannot be sized".
There are a couple of ways around this. You can leave the ingredient in question out of the ingredients list, and put it into the instuctions and description as "add calories etc for one can of cream of mushroom soup. Or, you can search the database for a canned soup that is measured in cups or ounces.
Please feel free to contact me by PM or on the Recipes forum. I'd be happy to help you with any specific recipe.
