Food is the enemy. How can I fight it?
Asked by vizzychick on Sep 22, 2009 in Nutrition

Answer

Stop fighting with food because you will always lose.  Feeding yourself nutritious food is an act of love; when you hate food, you hate yourself.  It sounds like you've been dieting too hard and long.  Chronic dieters (aka "Restrained Eaters") eat more than non-dieters whenever they get the chance (food wins!) Stop fighting and relinquish control to your body. Honor your feelings of hunger and satiety and learn eat what you "want".  At first, you will probably want your formerly forbidden foods, but in time you'll prefer wholesome food when you're hungry.  Read Intuitive Eating to learn about the process and practice being kind to yourself.
