Food and fluid calories

Quote  |  Reply
Hey are food and fluid calories the same? I'm trying to gain weight and was wondering if drinking loads of beverages high in calories along with a high calorie food diet is a good move. Fluids are easier to take for me such as milk and natural fruit juices.
Do I perhaps have less time to burn fluid calories than food calories since they are in liquid form?
Thanks

They're the same... If anything, fluids will get absorbed quicker than food and are less filling, so you can eat more of them and you'll feel hungry again quite quickly afterwards.  Full-fat milk is especially good for weight-gain....

Great thanks for the prompt reply!
Does the same go for one who is looking to lift heavy weights and put on mass?
Body-builders all seem to chug down those awful protein shakes with monotonous regularity! :-)  Fruit juice being just sugar probably isn't as useful in the body-building stakes as high-protein drinks.  Which brings us back to the milk, of course.

yes! drinking your calories is a great idea in addition to eating of course. It really  helps me get my calories up there to drink juice with most meals and a lot of full fat dairy. Since you usually have to eat so much to gain weight, it helps with the bloating and when you're too full to eat more.
