I thought it would be fun to have a topic highlighting top foods for the day:
1. Favorite thing you ate [taste]
2. Best thing you think you ate to help you reach your goals [weight gain, health, and for the ED thing what might have helped you fight that]
Reason: 10/18/09: Stickied for a short time
I'll start and hope you all will join me!
For yesterday:
1. I had mixed granola and total flakes with almond milk. The milk was so thick that the whole thing got gloppy and creamy like but it was SO good!
2. Well, the warmed up vanilla soy milk was best on my tummy and very soothing. Long term I think my trail mix was best because it was packed with healthy fats and calorie dense antioxidents in the dried berries.
hey SPUNKY! while i think a symptom of the ED is obsessing over food+food choices, it is also necessary in order to make sure the rt amount of cals are reached and in order to get over Fear Foods+challenges. so for me, getting the calories is the bottom line, but i also have rigidity to overcome-
yesterday-
1) (taste) PB+honey or PB+cream cheese on a raisin bagel.
2) (mental ED recovery) eating nearly 2 huge bakery(NY) bagels for dinner, and continuing to eat even after my father asked to put the bagels away! ==
==MY goals, MY life!
Today:
Taste: I oven roasted a tin of chickpeas with garlic cloves and spices. Crunchy. :DDD
Recovery: You don't want to know how many cashew nuts I have eaten today. In snacks, with my dinner (stir fry)... oi vey...
Today-
1)A slice of toast with melted strawberries spread on with and hershey's chocolate syrup on top (yumm!!)
2)An entire pack of Airheads, and it was good too! (I love airheads) It was best for me cause it didn't fill me up and all, and helped me bump up my calories by 300 :) (I've been having problems with my cals + gaining weight)
Sophi, you got so many suggestions on your other thread.
had wholewheat pasta w pure tomatoe sauce .. sounds boring but was awesome!!!! and pasta helped up my cals today!!!
spunky i think this is a gd idea!!!!
hey! good idea spunky! It's good for us to make sure we remember the positives about food :)
let's see, this will probably change since i'm not done eating today, but-
1) probably the chocolate granola tasted the best, or I'm about to eat some greek honey yogurt with stuff in it, this yogurt is amazing!
2) granola and yogurt are both high cal so they were both good, but also the entire can of chickpeas that I had for lunch. lots of protein and cals, and it's a big accomplishment to have the whole can!! I normally feel weird since it's technically "3 servings" as specified by the can, but who the heck is the can to tell me how much to eat?!?! Oo and i'll be eating challah tonight, more carbs and I'm afraid of white bread, but challah is so good!
1) Taste: Crepe with strawberries, blueberries and vanilla ice-cream.
2) Recovery: Sharing takeaway fish and chips with my friend at the beach... I hadn't eaten this in years and years, and even though it's never been a favourite of mine, today I enjoyed every greasy, salty mouthful because it felt like such a milestone!
:D
1) Ice cream by farrr..... it goes down so easily i could eat an entire pint of ben and jerrys without feeling too bloated, which is a major PLUS!!!
2) Costco jumbo muffins. If u are underweight, eat 2 a day and you WILL GAIN 3 LBS a week, no joke. At 800 calories per muffin, its a must have for those that need the calorie. (SO good too, the double chocolate, poppyseed... mmm!) ![]()
At the moment for taste I am loving pure canned pumpkin (embracing fall!) Tonight I mixed the pumpkin with vanilla jello pudding, added lots of cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar and sprinkled with ginger snaps, then put it in the oven until it was bubbling! I think next time I will try vanilla icecream instead of pudding.
For the E.D. it was a classic peanut butter and banana sandwich.
i cant go past my nuts butter on warm apple slice!
1- (taste) juicy burger+corn on the cob
2- (recovery) eating a snack rt before dinner+ a big oner later despite no one else eating.
its all about me!
Taste:
My Fiber One with Honey Nut Cheerios, cinnamon and splenda, made with coffee and a scoop of protein powder instead of milk
ED Recovery:
The yogurt/applesauce/protein powder "dessert" that I had after dinner; it tasted OKAY, I guess, but it was in ADDITION to what I ate and had something I need: protein.
oxy- wow, cereal with coffee? how was that? and just a friendly tip: stop using splenda! :)
havent had too many spectacular things today but i've eaten a ton.
taste- probably breakfast. i love greek gods honey yogurt and it's also really high in cals, and crumbling up cake into the yogurt and milk like cereal was a really good idea. I also really like black grapes.
recovery- hmm either the large doses of olive oil i've added to everything, or the larger lunch, larger breakfast. Ok i just ate large amounts today.
ooo and yesterday for taste, and i guess gaining too: i had kashi cocoa beach granola (i think 420 cals a cup??) with a banana and vanilla soymilk. This was soo good I might have it again tonight. Too bad last night I was so full while eating it, it literally felt like it wasnt fitting all the way down my throat.
today-
1-taste- ahh, so many diff new things but, pepperidge farms soft brownie cookie at lunch
2- ed recovery- eating lots of snacks when my fam is nutso +proving that the body clings to cals when someone isnt eating enough
taste- cottage cheese with pumpkin,,,yummm
recovery- BLT's for dinner and ice cream for dessert! oh and a ton of pistachios... soo yummy and good for you!
taste -> (at the moment, i tend to go through phases but i LOVE cereal) BIG bowl of all bran in the morning (1 cup) with skim milk. Or the persian food at this restaurant i love - hummus, tzatziki, lavash bread, feta... Or wagamama yasai yaki soba (buckwheat noodles with egg, vegetables and soy sauce)
lol i love food too much. yet not enough at the same time! i read somewhere (in a novel) 'people who love food either go on to become chefs or develop eating disorders'
ok while that is a major generalisation, i see some truth in it!!
ED recovery-> daily magnum ice cream or chocolate bar.

ME TOO! Ironic, huh?
Anyway, I love this idea, so here goes:
Taste: My big bowl of oatmeal made with milk mixed with chocolate protein powder, with cinnamon and peanut butter drizzled over top. I've been eating this every morning but it's so good, I go to sleep looking forward to eating it in the morning. And it's also too good and high-cal to not start off my day with!
Recovery: Probably the nuts I've snacked on throughout the day. Or the nearly entire avocado I ate today. Or perhaps just eating dessert after dinner in general - I used to hate eating after dinner, and still hate going to sleep feeling full - but you gotta do what you gotta do!
Favorite
Fiber One/coffee/protein powder/cocoa/cinnamon breakfast bowl :D SOOOO yummy!
Best for Recovery
I had TWO (veggie) corn dogs for dinner (plus sides) and then a fudge bar after. Mm.
