Do you have a "so what" food?

Quote  |  Reply

I usually hate topics centered around fattening food that we miss... they just make me hungry.  However, I think it's important to remember that we need to keep ourselves sane while dieting, and it's my opinion that completely denying ourselves of everything we want can lead to a break in willpower... and an end to the diet.

That being said, is there any one food that you eat without remorse - and just say "so what?" to the calories?

For me, it's a Starbucks latte.  Sure, I get mine with nonfat milk, but I order a Grande... and no, the syrup I choose isn't sugar-free... and yes, I add whip cream.  So what?  I want it most mornings.  I think that, if my diet didn't let me have it, then I would just eventually stop dieting.

For some people, maybe depriving yourself of everything you want works for you... but for most of us, I don't think it does.  So, what is your "so what" food?

Pretzles and muffins. A couple of times a year I'll get a huge craving, and grab one - despite it being so nutritionally void.

chocolate chocolate chocolate!!!!  It's not going to ever be excluded.I need it to survive!!!

sugary cereal, and smarties. a few days a week i'll have a mini-box of fruit loops or frosted flakes for breakfast, and around once a week i'll have a box of smarties. if i feel deprived, i binge or i get paranoid and restrict, so i make sure to add alot of treats into my diet as well as lots of healthy/nutritious food to keep me sane.

Rice krispy treats.

two huuge mugs of coffee w/ as much coffeemate to make a kid scream

Mini desserts like once or twice a month.  I went to a holiday party with a table of mini desserts (choc raz tarts, pumpkin cakes, fruit tarts, choc chip cannolis, pb mousse cakes) yup I had one of each (they were tiny at least)

But even though I wont eat little debbies or hostess cakes or entemains cookies, I will indulge in real fresh made desserts and savor them all!

yesterday it was a burger and fries at an irish restaurant.  So yummy.

I agree about the coffeemate.  Especially now with the holiday flavors.

Eerica you could have a worse vice than fruit loops

110 cals a cup is something I'm sure your diet can survive if it makes you happy :)

My "so what" food is cheese. I LOVE cheese, it gives everything so much flavor and you know what - it's got protein too, I'm eating it!

having a "so what" food is truly living.  thats a healthy attitude towards food.  my "so what" food is basically just what i crave.  tonight, brownies!  occassionally, donuts.  mmm coffee and donuts.  heaven.

cream cheese n pretzels  mmmmmm

Rich thick and creamy greek yogurt- i honestly will eat it over icecream! I just think of the calcium :)

Licorice! I love licorice. It's so good. Yum...

Chocolates in general. Too awesome to give up!

rice :]

Cheese and red wine

Cold cereal.  I have a big bowl almost every morning and it can range from 200-400 calories.  But I love cereal, so it's worth it!

Chinese food. I eat it once a week and I don't care. Its my favorite food and eating it once a week keeps me sane.

Margarita on the rocks with salt at Mazatlan Restaurant.  Sodium be damned!  I draw the limit at two, other wise I couldn't eat my seafood enchiladas coming with the meal I ordered.  Oh yes, no refried beans, gotta watch my calories. LOL!

Pizza.  I'ma pretty good vegetarian, but I will never be vegan as long as pizza continues to exist in the world.

And the thicker the crust, the more I love it.
