I ended up eating more than I had planned yesterday (Easter) DAMN those cheesy potatoes, deviled eggs and sugar cookies decorated by the kids ( of course we all had to have at least one...)
I am not complaining, not freaking out about possible weight gain - just wondering if anyone else gets like this the day after overindulging. I have a headache, I feel foggy in the brain, I am extra hungry. And it is not like I am a stranger to over eating - it's just that it has been MONTHS since I have had an All-Day-Meal like the one I had yesterday and I think my body is confused.
What is the remedy? I am trying coffee and fruit and eating normally.
Water helps-I think it is all the sugar and fat your body is no longer used to. I decided the other day to have a chocolate fondue with my little girl...I think due to the fact taht I have not had anything with added sugar in awhile...it made me feel crappy-like it was way too sweet and then next day I was hungrier and grumpy all day-fuzzy head as well. Feeling much better today!
Coffee may not be the best - doesn't the caffiene sort of dehydrate you? Not sure, I'm not a coffee drinker myself. Anyway, I would drink lots of water, eat light today (if you're constantly hungry just try to graze on fruits and veggies, which you can eat tons of to satisfy your hunger but aren't going to kill you on calories) and TIME. You'll feel better tomorrow. :)
yes, I SO get that. And no, I'm not complaining or freaking out either. I get a headache, a stomach that feels like it's full of vinegar and steel wool and I'm grumpy. The only thing that's different from yours is I will have much less appetite the next day. It's not revulsion or nausea, I'll simply not be interested in eating anything. That part's kind of nice, since normally I'm hungry all the time.
I've had a few weekends recently where I've been staying with relatives and the only food on offer has been a little less than healthy, shall we say? :-) I find that kind of food these days incredibly unsatisfying so I spend the weekend feeling constantly hungry. Each time I've come home feeling rather lacklustre, usually with a bloated stomach and craving bowls of porridge, vegetarian casseroles or a big green salad!!!
Any excess sugars get converted into seritonin which is responsible for many functions in the body, one being to cue the need to sleep. Turkey also contains tryptophan which also gets made into seritonin...the more sugar...the more seritonin...the more sleepy and groggy you will feel.
i find that a day after eating too much my body feels really tender in the morning. :

and to add to that your thirst and hunger receptors are intertwined with the sleep ones in your brain..which explains your hunger..
I'd do what your doing eat light mostly fruit & veggies, but also drink lots of water, the coffee will help you feel better temporarily but won't really help your body clean out, water will help it process all that sugar.
a little lean protein seems to help me too..not sure why though...
I did the same thing and now I can't make myself get back on track. I keep grabbing candy, cake, and anything I can get in my mouth....How can I get myself back on track?????? HELP!
same here. Started on Monday, eating all sort of things that I normally wouldn't allow myself, and now I don't seem to be able to stop, even though I feel bad when I am doing it, and afterwards. I've decided to start fresh tomorrow, eating properly and going back to the gym. Also, I haven't been able to exercise this days (ankle problem), which got me very upset, and probably on some level my brain decided to stop all healthy lifestyle. Should I go back to normal eating tomorrow, or try and have a massive calorie deficit for like 2 days, and then back to normal? Don't want to get very stressed out about it, cause I find that the harder time I give myself the more I will overeat as a result. But it's so annoying after having done so well for 10 months, with no junk food at all entering my flat.. don't know why this weekend I decided to get loads of candy, chocolate, ice cream, etc...
