Food that no longer exists that you wish did :(

Quote  |  Reply

When I was young, in the early 80's there was a cereal called Donutz.  It was like tiny crunchy powdered donuts.  I wish so bad that I had a box of them today, but they quit making them soon after.    :(

Is there a food that you miss terribly?

yes, the cup salads at McDs were great!

Ice cream and cheese. Stupid lactose intolerance.

I used to eat a LOT of yoghurt and string cheese before I found out the reason why I was getting so sick all the time was because of dairy and eggs. :( I know your pain

They used to make this cereal that was like chocolate cheerios, but they where supposed to be Oreos, or something. They where chocolate and had little white specks of, what I think was supposed to be the white stuff in the middle. I used to eat a lot of that.

Also, my mom and I have been searching for these Cheddar rice snack things from Smartsolutions, or something. She gets these massive cravings for cheese, so it's my duty to go out and find these things, but I think they stopped making them.

she refuses to buy the multi grain rice snacks, which I love.

OH! anyone remember Dunkers? They where like handisnacks but came in cookies and cream instead of cheese and crackers...And fruit stripe gum?

I feel old now.

They were dunkaroos!!!!! I loved those so much! It's funny you should mention it because I was discussing how much I missed that very snack the other day with my friend!

Fifth Avenue candy bars! I used to eat them every weekend when I went to my dads house. (he was the only one who let us have junk, my mom was a stickler for NO SUGAR! so I had my fill every weekend)

anyways, they don't sell them here anymore! I found a store that had them a few weeks ago and they tasted all stale and nasty....I was so disappointed!

Does anyone remember Simpsons Cereal? Each box was a different flavor..Homer had Cinnamon frosted donuts..Bart was some weird peanut butter concoction....I miss those! but I LOVE the simpsons, so i about died when I saw the cereal...despite the fact that I must have been...in my 20's! LOL

Theys till have dunkaroos here in canada

I dont remember what its called but it was like a soft/taffy-ish stip of candy that was pink, blue and yellow all in one stip they were so good. The last time we found some was when we went to Disney Land in FL :( ...10 years ago

Quisp and Quake are both gone.  I was a Quisp kid myself.

I buy Quisp for my husband once or twice a month at a market downtown.  He loves it.

The old McDonalds Animal Crackers that came in the box.

Taco Bell's healthier menu choices

Crispy MINT M&Ms. They only made them for the release of the new Indiana Jones movie. They were the best candy ever made. I'm glad I'm not gorging myself on them and getting fat but I wish I could have them every now and then at the movies.

Also just plain cream cheese Pilsbury Toaster Struedel. I actually found these a few weeks ago at ONE store in this entire city. I was so happy to buy them...and not eat them. But I do sneak bites when I give them to other people here.

Oh and do you remember the Jumpin' Jack Doritos? Those were my favorite.

So, how old were you?  Do you remember the fake commercial on Saturday Night Live where Jim Belushi was the decathalon athlete?  Instead of eating Wheaties and getting his photo on the Wheaties box, he ate a cereal called "Little Tiny Doughnuts" and got his photo on that box.  It was funny, because who ever heard of doughnut cereal?  And he wasn't exactly shaped like an athlete.

Donutz hit the market a short time later.  Life imitates art!

I miss the original Tab soft drink.  The one made with good old-fashioned saccharine.

Also, Charms suckers.  I learned how to whistle from having puckered lips from the Charms.

We went to a candy store in a touristy area one time that had nostalgic candy.  One of the things they had were little boxes of "candy sticks."  Well, in my youth, they were called candy cigarettes.  I like the taste of them!  My kids were about 5 and 6 at the time, so I bought each of them a box (even though hubby kept giving me dirty looks).  They were afraid to eat the candy when we got outside!  They were afraid someone would mistake the candy for REAL cigarettes and they would get in trouble.

Also, anyone remember orange baby aspirin...before people learned that children should not take aspirin?  How come they can't make orange candy that tastes like that?  Believe me....I've looked...

mamarose...I remember that...Laughed my butt off! haha and candy cigarettes? I didn't like them, but the now and laters at the same store rocked! They still have now n laters but they are diff, and not as good. Proabbly a good thing for me.

Someone mentioned Taco doritos...I can get them. I lOOOOOOVEEE them, but i stay away.

my vote is for Jello Pudding pops, chocolate especially...you can find them every once in awhile (aldi's), but the aren't the right shape anymore. ;(

and mint m&m's....why only for the Holiday season? Why not all year?

berry berry kix!!! I miss those!!!

This has had me depressed every time I venture down the cereal aisle for about the last 3 years.  Such heaven, they were.

Oh, what I would do for a pudding pop!

My Granny would always have Tab in the fridge.  She would encourage us to drink that with our cookies.

I loved, loved, loved candy cigarettes!!!

I miss Chi Chi's restaurants.  There are no longer any Chi Chi's in our area anyway.

I also miss stuffing my mouth with Big League Chew like I did as a child.  Do they still make it?

When I was little, there used to be pink and yellow easter bunnies. They only make chocolate and white anymore.

I think back on it, and perhaps they were just dyed white chocolate but i could have sworn that they tasted different.  and if i'm not crazy (which is entirely possible) the pink tasted different than the yellow.  the yellow was the best :D

anyway... you don't see them anymore. or i don't. :(

Weight Watchers cereals. Since I moved, I can't find them anywhere near. >____<!!!

A&W used to make those big-thick-crispy fries (one bite and I fell in love ^^) but now it seems that every chain of restaurant decided to make thin-flat fries. One of the reason why I don't like fries anymore (so it might be a good thing that A&W stopped making them lol)

OH OH OH! British people particularly - the spaghetti flavour of Monster Munch. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? :D I used to trade flavours on the playground because I loved spaghetti so much!

Edit: Man, I am thinking of so many things now. How about when Happy Meals used to cost 99p? (Britain, again, sorry!) And in addition - you could try writing to some of these companies! They bought back the Wispa bar in the UK. Though I think Wispas are gross. :\

mmmm...I know it sounds gross......but I loved McDonald's McRib!!

They still bring that back about once a year, I just saw one 3 weeks ago! (but I admit I find them nasty lol)

Since people started bringing up resturant's they miss, my favorite place to eat was Petro's! I LOVED it! I ate there all the time, and then they up and closed it one day, and I never could find another one. I know where one is and its 3 hrs from my house so I pretty much never eat there, its so sad when your favorite place closes.

I lived in the UK for a while and we had rasin splitz.  Bite size peiced of shredded wheat with a rasin mixture in the middle.  I absolutly loved them and it totally reminds me of my childhood. Me and my brother got to choose what cereal we had for breakie.  I had the rasin splitz.  MY brother had cocoa pops and my Dad had bran flakes.

Mr. Melon candy. You can still get Lemonheads but why no Mr. Melon??
