Food Measurements
I've been having a hard time measuring out some of my meals. I don't want to throw off my calorie count by incorrectly guessing how MUCH I'm eating.
For lunch, I have a few slices of turkey (or shrimp) and a hand-full of misc. veggies (Cucumbers, pepers, snow peas, etc). I can't tell how much I'm eating and have just been guessing.
I also cook with Olive Oil and don't know how to add that in!
Does anyone have any measurement suggestions so I could eye-ball it better?
Thanks and good luck to everyone!
The best answer is get a food scale. But in the meantime, do you not have measuring cups/spoons? You should get in the habit of measuring everything instead of eyeballing if you are looking for accuracy. That way you would know you used, say, 3/4 cup of peas, or a teaspoon of oil. Although obviously you can't measure things like slices of turkey in a measuring cup.
i suggest not cooking with olive oil, haha. Use Pam.
Also don't try to eyeball at first... go for a week measureing everything out with measuring cups/tablespoons etc.. really look at how it looks in a bowl, on a plate.. then you will be able to eyeball it later on but guessing at first you are probly getting it wrong.
also, make sure to level off the measuring cups, don't mound the food on top
There is nothing wrong with olive oil. We all need healthy fats. Just measure and don't use gobs of it.
the only thing "wrong" with olive oil is its extremely caloric. I prefer to get my heathy fats through actual food rather than cooking my vegetables in fat.
