Food Network!!! I love it, but......
I love watching the food network specially "Everyday Italian", but wow the stuff they show is so not healthy. It would be nice if they had a show were they told you the calorie count for each recipe, do you agree?
I just looked at the web and found this link:
"Low-calorie Recipes"

hmm The bottom of the page has a table showing how you can lower calories... but I notice practically everything there is just smaller portions, not actually healthier foods. like instead of eating a large frie at a fast food restaurant, get a small. (I woulve suggested maybe skipping the fries entirely and getting a potatoe or salad) well.. just something I noted ;-)

i love ACE OF CAKES! Gosh that show is the best. And iron chef america. oh yeaaaa lol. I dunno why I love watching food, but it sure keeps me occupied.
Food Network was better in the old days. They had more variety of actual cooking shows, fewer of these crappy "feel good" shows like Unwrapped, and the chefs that they featured were more focused on teaching and cooking rather than being a pop icon with a catch phrase.
I think they are totaly missing the boat. There is a wave of interest in healthier eating, and more informational media sources. It's not enough to just have some sassy dame telling everyone to use tons of butter and then flashing a web address during the commercials.
They should have more shows *after people get home from work* that cater to healthy cooking. The shows should incorporate portion management and careful ingredient selection as well as on-screen calorie and nutrition values.
I would tune in alot more if I could actually learn something I could use, and not just a dozen short cuts to my next heart attack.

I LOVE Good Eats! Alton Brown is great.
If I want something healthy, I like to watch "Healthy Appetite" with Ellie Krieger. She's got good, healthy recipes and always gives you tips for cooking, as well as great hints for adding flavor, but not adding calories.
It's also fun to watch those not-so-healthy recipes and then try to find ways to make it healthier. My husband and I like to make a game out of it.

I love love love the food network to the point where my boyfriend says thats the only thing he really hates about me haha! but anyways...like the other person above me said ellie kreiger does make healthy recipes one that i want to try is her arugula pesto salad dressing salad...but another person i love to watch is not on the food network..her name is Devin Alexander she has a show on Discovery Health channel (or i just saw it on fitTV) and her show is called Healthy Decadence and she basically caters to the people who are trying to eat healthy she even has a cookbook out where it makes "healthier" versions of fast food...i think if you dont already know about her you should deff. check her out!
I was watching a show on FitTV last night and it was a girl making ice cream cake with crushed up reduced fat oreos and frozen vanilla yogurt. A better choice, yes, but not quite 'healthy'. Then she went on to make steak and potatoes. At that point I just changed the channel.
I LOVE watching paula dean to gag at the food she makes. And good eats, ace of cakes, all the challenges. I watch food from about 5 until I go to sleep. It's like food porn. Helps me with my dieting because I can watch it, but it's not here for me to eat it :)
^^ Healthy Decadence is what I was talking about :) Didn't seem too 'healthy' in terms of how healthy goes.
well she does make things with less calories! :) sorry you didnt approve :)
