What are some of your favorite healthy food products that helped you in your journey towards losing weight?

Stuff that isn't too common...

I have to admit, I have not personally tried these but the sites make me want to break out my credit card right now:

1. http://store.vitalicious.com/vitatops.html

2. http://www.westernbagel.com/ProductDetails.as p?ProductCode=34565

Also, the smoothie chain Surf City Squeeze has a smoothie called "Blue Aloha". Even though it has dairy product in it, for a large it is only 220 calories. Love it! And Jamba Juice's all-fruit smoothie are super low-cal and delicious, a huge large is around 300 calories as well... And both of these company's use frozen fruit, not the kind that has been preserved in the sugar syrup. : )

buckwheat (gives you a feeling of fullness and satisfaction, and has a nutty wonderful flavour)

saskatoons (june berries) - simply delicious and the best anti-oxidant on the block

bitter melon - helps diabetes big time, bitter but delicious flavour - lots of options for cooking them up

almonds - a handful a day

apples - this is my candy

skim milk

Tim Hortons coffee (its always fresh)
well, i've tried the bagels before (they are just at the grocery store) and they taste great.  i like that they aren't humumgous like typical bagels nowadays.
Weight Watchers Bread:

Because it tastes great and not "lite" but carbwise two pieces is like having a single piece of regular bread and it has a good amount of dietary fiber.

Luna Bars:

I'm a guy - it's a womans nutritional bar - why?  at 180 calories it makes it a perfect meal ( I eat six smaller meals).   They come in terrific variety and tasty flavors.

Slim n Fit Yogurt:

60 Calories, non-fat, good source of calcium.

D.
  • viva la oatmeal!!
  • as many fruits and veggies as i can eat/desire
  • nonfat yogurt
  • soymilk
  • fresh fish, tuna fish
  • egg whites
  • pumpkin
oink-why would soymilk help you lose weight?

I love Healthy Life bread - 70 cal for 2 slices!

Tortilla Factory tortillas - 50 cal

Cabot 75% Light Cheddar - 60 cal for a big chunk

Peach Enviga - kills my appetite (not sure why)

Fiber One - delicious and very filling!

All of these items are low cal and very filling!

I agree about the Enviga.  I love the Berry Enviga.  Unlike other diet sodas, I can drink Enviga without wanting to eat more sugary stuff.

The food I attribute that has singlehandedly helped me lose weight: Icebreakers sugar-free sour mints (2 cal per mint, 100 cal total in one canister of 50 mints).  I love sour candy (usually chewy ones like Lifesavers gummies or sour watermelon slices or sour punch straws), so munching on the mints (sometimes I would finish almost one canister in a day) both relieve my cravings for sour candy and helps me keep my mind (and mouth) away from other snacks.  I'm addicted to it now.  Whenever I have a needless, mindless urge to snack, I grab a mint.
baby carrots- easy low cal snack

fibre one cereal- low cal, high fibre

vita-soybeverage- 60 cals per cup

sugar free jello- 5 cals each, eat as much as you want!

fruit (apples, raspberries, strawberries and pears)- high fibre and nutritious

steamed brocolli and cauliflower- delicious and very low cal

egg whites- soooo easy and versitile and good source of protein

coffee- 1-2cups in the morning.. mmm

tea-warm water makes you feel less hungry

water- obviously important in weight loss and life

crystal light mixes- add to water to make it taste good so you drink more

diet soda- only one a day, after lunch or dinner as 'dessert', sweet and the bubbles fill me up

sugar free syrup- i like to put it on my fibre one cereal with some cinnimon, like cinnimon toast crunch but better and low cal

splenda- so useful
Hmm, you ask for a food "product" so that makes me think you want us to name something that has been processed, packaged and labelled. I try not to eat a lot of that sort of food. I strive to eat whole foods - whole grains, fruit, veggies, etc that aren't necessarily branded.

But I guess I can add some items that I've found that have minimal ingredients:

- Stoneyfield nonfat plain yogurt (it's the only brand I like)

- 8th contininent nonfat plain soymilk (less calories than Silk brand)

- Tofutti Cuties (except that I'm losing my taste for them... finding them too sweet lately!)

- Low-fat, low-sugar whipped cream (any brand) in the bottle - to use on strawberries for a treat

- Any brand, high-quality balsalmic vinegar: along with just a little olive oil, works as a great salad dressing; also great on strawberries to bring out their sweetness; use in bean soups too

- Kashi Good Friends Cinna-Crunch - just discovered this one... probably too high in sugar but packed with fiber

- Erewohn instant oatmeal - has only two ingredients: oats, oat bran

- Bocca burgers - haven't actually had one in a long, long while, but they're in my freezer for emergencies. Packed with protein

- Trader Joe's frozen fish and flash-frozen chicken breasts

- Whole Foods Little Treats Chocolate - individually wrapped chocolates at just 20 cals per peice

- Saltines. Okay, I confess: I have always had a thing for Saltines. It's comfort food for me. Yes, it's crap, but low-fat crap!! You can eat 10 for only 120 calories and it helps keep me away from the potato chips.
what is  enviga ?
It's a diet green tea soda recently released by Coca Cola.  There's flavors of berry, peach, and green tea.  Drinking 3 12-oz cans a day is supposed to help you burn 60-100 calories, although I'm not sure how true that is (and they're pretty expensive too).
oatmeal

kashi ANYTHING

ground turkey meat and turkey bacon

tea

jello (sugar-free)

dried fruit

Hi hon. :)  I understand your situation.  What I do for this diet is really portion control and cook my own food!  I never deprive myself of anything, but I do try to eat as much unprocessed food as possible.  Cooking is a very fun thing to do and this is the only way I can feed hubby healthy food without him knowing.  Cooking has 2 very big advantages:  1. You get to control the quality of ingredients.  You can choose the less fatty cuts of meat.  2. You can add less salt and put in more flavorful spices.  Garlic, ginger root, herbs are all wonderful.  :)  I will admit that at first, reducing amount of processed food will be hard.  But after awhile, it will be natural and you won't crave it as much.

fiber one

fruits and vegtables esp. apples and carrots and bananas

whole wheat bread

100 calorie popcorn

60 calorie pudding with lite whipcream- delicious treat that only adds to 75 calories

100 calorie bags like chips ahoy cookies. (Its all about portion control)
Ditto on the oatmeal and yogurt.

Also ground flaxseed (makes my oatmeal seem more filling) and most especially WATER.

It took me awhile to get used to the changes but it's true that if you keep it up it WILL get easier and become a natural pattern of choices for you! :)

Better stop thinking what you can eat to lose weight, but get off

your butts and start exercising.
Hmm, I don't know camper, talking about food in a food forum?

Hersey I say!
