has anyone checked out mypyramid.com? This site actually analysis what food pyramid you should be following for weight loss. would like to have this working on this site as a tool...unless it exsists in some form I am not aware of. Please let me know..thanks!![]()
I regularly recommend MyPyramid. :D It's not anything on CC, but is such a brilliant tool in providing recommended servings of foods. Particularly good if you're someone who wants a better knowledge of nutrition and balance or to go by portions/servings and not calories - weaning off the counting!

yeayy!!
haha, i'm weaning myself off the counting and going to the servings system of mypyramid :]
its been working so far, i've been maintaining. :]
I use the food pyramid as a guide to help me keep my diet balanced. I found this article on the Mayo Clinic Website. It explains how to use the pyramid system and gives examples of different ethinic diets. I follow the Mediterannean plan.
We discussed it in a nutrition class of mine. Two thumbs up from me.
I've tried this site and appreciate it (thanks for the recommendation). But yeah, I'm spoiled by CC's ease of use and flexibility.
My problems with the Mypyramid site:
- I use CC, so I have to enter my foods twice if I also want to use the pyramid site
- I can't manually enter my foods on the pyramid site, so I have to try to guess close matches. For instance; I eat plain greek yogurt, which has different nutritional content than regular plain yogurt, but "yogurt" is my only option on the pyramid site.
I get that food labels probably don't provide enough information, so they had to go standard using typical nutritional content.
Yeah, it would be GREAT if CC had a food pyramid with nutritional breakdown (including such things as potassium, which I'm starting to see on more labels). But I also understand that the food labels will have to provide more information for the pyramid to work.
I usually eat by this pyramid: http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/PAG00361/anti-inf lammatory-food-pyramid.html
Not so different from Mypyramid, but the focus is on reducing inflammation and improving immunity. For me, the ratio of foods is better, too... I feel better eating more veggies/fruits rather than having carbs be the focus of every meal.
