What food reduces bloat?

Quote  |  Reply

I don't really have any fat ON my stomach, but I get bloated really easily!

Sometimes in the mornings my stomach would be super flat, but the minute I eat one LITTLE thing (even water) it expands like crazy.

I was wondering if there are certain foods that actually DECREASE bloated-ness?

Water retention is caused by a high level of sodium- Check the sodium levels in your food and stay hydrated!

water, tea helps too
Lots of water, cut back on carbs and sodium. Glycogen and sodium both can cause water rentention.

Hello my name is Hope and I'm new to the site.

I have a recipe from the Flat Belly Diet book called, "Sassy Water."  It's suppose to help get rid of bloating.

Hope

Put pure lemon juice in your water when you eat. Drink two cups of lemon juice after a meal to help with the salt retention.  Also you may just be getting too much salt...this should help and cutting those salty foods in half portions might help also.  I quit salting my food but when I eat out its hard to avoid salt and processed food is loaded.,

Allergies to foods will also cause this.

I have the same problem and part of my issue is eating/ drinking too fast I figured out.  I am chasing 3 little ones around so often times I am chugging water in between errands or rushing to eat before the kids do so I can concentrate on them, etc.  Once I started sipping water and eating after the kids I noticed a big difference in the bloat.  I eat small meals (200-300 calories) 5 or 6 times a day so that I don't get food bloat, too.

I also have to really watch starches.  I try to avoid bread and pasta as possible, and really watch my portions when I do have it -- only whole grain versions as well.  Sodium is definitely an issue -- I try to stay right around 1500 mg a day (I have borderline high blood pressure).

I would watch the lemon juice consumption.  I think a slice or two in water isn't a big deal, but two cups is a lot of acid.  I've read that lemon is terrible for dental enamel -- my daughter did a school experiment with eggs and various sugary and soft drinks.  The lemonade wreaked more havoc on the egg shell than the coke did!

There are many foods which you may have a mild allergy to, which can cause bloating. Wheat (gluten) in bread and pastas, dairy - including cheese, corn, eggs, and citrus. I removed all of the above foods from my diet for one week and saw a huge difference in how bloated I felt.

try eating slower, not drink much carbonted drinks and restrict bread
