what food/restaurant do you wish was available in your area?

Quote  |  Reply

My FH and I recently took a trip to Myrtle Beach, SC- where we stop at a Sonic and a pizza chain called Ultimate California Piazza each time we go since there are none up here in NY... so got me to thinking, what restaurants or types of foods do you love and wish was available where you live but isn't?

haha i actually like to think of it as a good thing that some of these places aren't where i live. i can never pass up checker's when i visit my grandparents in florida. they have the best fries EVER.

Real, authentic, Korean food.  I used to live in Northern Virginia, very close to an area known as "Little Seoul" that was filled with little mom-and-pop Korean shops.  I used to go get Korean food about once a month...  Since I've moved to the Baltimore area, although there are quite a few people of Korean descent--and a couple of Asian markets run by them--the restaurants are impossible to find :(

a good rotating sushi bar! ive been craving one for the longest time. also a frozen yogurt place that sells "only 8" yogurt (only has 9cal/oz). i have to drive 25 miles down to the city to get it...(i hang out down there anyways). where i live currently sucks, horse crap and cowboys nty, i want my city back

My budget has kept me out of restaurants for some time but I admit that I was very glad to see the closing of the chinese buffet by my house months back.  It was the most incredibly large buffet and I just feel a lot safer knowing its not around anymore.
Innocent

If I wasnt dieting, I'd drag some of places here from Jersey.  A bakery where rolls had crusty outsides and you could grab a cannoli plus an italian sub shop where it would be natural to see multiple subs that came with marinara sauce - meatball, meatloaf, sausage, sausage& peppers, etc.   Oh and a real pizza joint. Texas - pizza?  Hahahahahahahaha.

LOL one day I will be somewhere in the country making someone pull over because theres a trader Joes and I have to find out what everyones talked about  here so long.

This little place called the Dutch Oven in Clarksdale MS, run by Mennonites. They make like the BEST pies ever and they have soups to DIE for.............well actually it is really a very very good thing I live about 700 miles away from that place, they definitely don't fit into my eating pattern!

There's so much thing that aren't available in Canada...

Fage.

PB Loco (cinnamon raisin swirl, raspberry white chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate chip, apple and cinnamon...)

Perfect 10 Bagels (9g of fiber and 18g protein!)

Bars (Luna, Larabars, ThinkThin, Zbars, Gnu bars)

Levain Cookies (They must be good if they won over Bobby Flay's cookies)

Swiss Chalet, Domino's Pizza, T.G.I's (Their commercials are killing me!!)

Okay I'll stop here. x)

The only place I really miss is Red Robin. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their fish and chips....... Outside that........I dont need any more good places to eat! I live in Charleston SC and god knows there are good places to eat on every corner.........give me strength They have a Mellow Mushroom Pizza joint here that is sooooo good!

Pinkberry! I want to try it so bad and the closest one is like 300 miles away in Dallas.

Luna bars and Lara bars are both available in Canada.  Less flavours, but they're around.  I think I've seen Gnu bars too.

Swiss Chalet is definitely around as my parents used to drag me there until I finally convinced them there was *nothing* on the menu I liked.  (Seriously.  I tried about 8 different things before they finally caved and put that on their "go out when Susan's away" list instead.)  We also have Domino's pizza.

Whole Foods market.

I've been to it once whilst in Oakville. I came.

Oh man! Well I would LOVE it if there was a japanese buffet around! One price for ALL YOU CAN EAT! I am so down!!!

Also, there used to be a Mongolian BBQ here ($12.99 all you can eat - CAN'T BEAT THAT) but it left!!! Now the closest one is in Denver, but I am not going to drive there every time I want to get some mongolian grub!

Otherwise I have everything I want: Whole Foods and my favorite sushi restaurant that has pretty much everything I want at a reasonable price!

I feel your pain! When I am home (Wyoming) I don't have a WHOLE FOODS either - let's just say I am "in a drought" whenever I go home! ah ha ha... If you catch my drift.

Hmm, a lot of things I want/like are here with few exceptions. Only problem is that all the good stuff is SPREAD OUT LIKE MAD! XD

Kind of wish I could find Chobani yogurt and just plain quaker puffed wheat cereal...

Since I can no longer eat at any chain restaurant because of their insistance on over salting food (I have a medical problem) I'd have to say I wish all of them would go out of business.  They should be replaced with nice little privately owned places where the food is cooked to order and where salt can be left out if requested.

Sorry if this makes you mad, but you did ask.

Buca di Beppo's...I just had dinner there Thursday night in Indianapolis.  I live in Baltimore and the closest one is in Gaithersburg (actually that's the only one in MD).  It's an honest-to-goodness authentic family Italian restaurant.  They use real mozzerella cheese, not the processed kind (kraft, etc)...it tasted like they made their own tomato sauce from tomatoes.  You order these huge entrees and share them amongst your group.  Great place, great food.

When I went to Hawaii, the food there was amazing!!

They had a neat little 24 hour chain called Zippy's!

And great Japanese ramen and curry restaurants!

Yeah I just saw the Caramel Brownie/ Lemon Zest/ S'mores Luna Bars yesterday, but it's sooo expensive and they were the only flavours available. I almost fainted when I saw the price. (2.99$ each...!)

I didn't know about the Gnubars! Thanks! I'll keep searching then.

Wah we also have Domino's Pizza? (The Pasta Bowl commercial = Healthconcious Nightmare lol)

I live in Rome, Italy, and while they have lots of good ethnic restaurants, there is not a good Mexican restaurant.  I just want a place that makes a good queso dip....so, I miss any good Mexican restaurant!
