the food scale: in love, but a lot of lectures!
So... I bought my first food scale, and I have to say I am completely in love. But here's the story:
I have a roomate... she's naturally thin and stunning and eats literally whatever she wants (for example, its not uncommon for her to order entire thai take out for 2-4 people... just for herself).
I've lost quite a bit of weight, some over the course of years and about half of my total loss has occurred in the past 9 months.
The food scale in the kitchen has created some controversy... and although I LOVE using it, I'm starting to feel more and more like I have to weigh, count, log etc. in private. I guess in short, I'm embarrassed and to be honest, I'm just tired of the lectures and input others feel the need to so often give.
That being said, I need your input..
how do you choose to deal?
Hmm, I'm baffled. Why would anybody object to a food scale, or give lectures about it? Tell her that food is interesting. A scale is just a tool used to help achieve fitness goals, like a pair of running shoes.
I knowww I seem to face the same problem. I'm not trying to lose any weight though, so that's why I get comments about it. I just simply like to measure...?
With that said, I can totally understand how you feel. I luckily live in an environment that supports me weighing everything I eat. Could you sit down with your roommate and discuss how you feel about your eating habits? My guess would be the more time that goes by with you weighing your food the more normal it will seem. Then, one day, you'll forget to weigh your food and your roommate will ask, "why didn't you weigh that before eating it?"
Eh, roomates come and go. If you want I could pull out a number of crazy stories from my college days :P. Do what *you* need to do and *try* not to worry about it. Although, I know how you feel, I brought mine on a family vacation and rarely used it. Good luck!!!!!
I've been a little anxious without one, after seeing this video anyways.
I think I may buy one..they will get over it =P
