What food do you WISH you liked?

Quote  |  Reply
Is there a food or type of cuisine you know is really good for you, or more reasonably priced, or is always available... But you just get the dry heaves no matter how hard you try to like it?

For me I'd say celery and diet Coke... I'm a Pepsi fan but my cafteria only sells Coke products, and my dad likes celery and made me sooo sick of it 8-)

Just curious =]

I wish I liked celery too. So low in calories. :/

onions, tomatoes, green/red peppers, mushrooms, et al... (as my husband would say... Anything good LOL)

Liking these things would sure help eating nutriciously be alot easier Sealed

Fish.  All that protein and omega-3...  Just can't do it!Tongue out

I used to say I wished I liked oatmeal but then I made a point to eat it and now I even crave Quaker Simple Harvest maple brown sugar but regular oatmeal is still a bit of a chore. I can finish a bowl of regular but it's a lot of work.

My thing I REALLY wish I liked but just can't stand is tomatoes.

Of all the vegetables/fruits I wish I liked that's the big one!!

Has someone figured out a way to make yourself like tomatoes?

HA Good thread!!

I hate onions, tomatoes, red peppers, and mushrooms...blueberries, strawberries and oranges.

It's really hard to find new things to eat without including them. I'm really trying harder to be less picky but it seems to be a textural dislike more than anything.

onions and peppers. Celery and carrots. It would be great to just munch on carrot or celery sticks.

Well, i wish that i would like:

celery

tomatoes

avocado

Kiwi

mango

Things might be a little bit easier to loose a couple of pounds!

Plain water, life would be so much simpler.

Greens

Plain Yogurt
Ditto fish.  I really really really really really really really really really really wish I could like fish.  It would make life so much easier and better for me.  Think of the world of food options available to me if I could eat fish?!

But alas, I have never been able to get past the smell, the texture, the taste...all of it.  I start to gag before I even put it in my mouth.  And I know, "really fresh fish doesn't smell fishy, doesn't taste fishy...yadda yadda yadda", believe me, i've heard it all.  Makes no difference. :(

What's really odd though, is I can eat a tuna sandwich.  But only if I make it, and I have to doctor it up with lots of garlic and pickles and onions and mayo and stuff to really disguise the taste of the tuna :p

Asparagus, raw tomatoes, artichokes, and cauliflower...

And Salmon. I love almost every other type of fish, but I can't stand salmon - which is the highest in Omega-3's! Dx
Raisins.  I'm sick of picking the buggers out of my Raisin Bran.  And don't tell me to buy regular bran cereal, Raisin Bran is a buck cheaper.

Sometimes I wish I could enjoy artificial sweeteners like Equal or Nutrasweet... but they just taste horrible to me.  I always have to factor in putting actual sugar in my coffee every morning and I can't have a pop or something sweet without getting the full-on calories from the sugar.

Raw mushrooms. I love every kind of cooked mushroom to death, but I can't have them raw on salads.

Oatmeal for me.  Yuck!  I try it about once a year to see if I can start liking it, but so far no luck.

I used to hate mushrooms, now I can eat them (taste buds must be getting old) as long as they aren't the real fungus-y kind, then it gets to be a texture problem.

mango... *sigh* I know. It's so good... I just can't eat it raw.
I wish I liked oatmeal and yogurt.
peanut butter and bananas.

my fiance likes them both, but I'm allergic.  <sigh>

Celery. I can eat it and keep it down fine, but...I almost always would rather be eating something else.

Mine is coffee. I can't even stand the smell of it. It would be so much easier to get caffeine if I liked coffee. It'd be more convenient and cheaper too, as you can get as many free refills of coffee you want at a restaurant.
