Food you wouldn't give up no matter what diet you're on
Almost everybody has a food they don't give up even if they diet. It doesn't matter if its healthy or not. The food I love and won't give up is white rice. I don't eat platefuls like i used to but i still have a little portion of it everyday.
um chocolate and biscuits, but as long as i count them within my calories each day i still can lose weight thats why i love counting rarther than any diets out there that wont let you eat your favourite foods
Cottage cheese and tomatoes.
Honestly, nothing. A few years ago I would've said bacon, or salami, or some sort of chicken dish, but I'm now a vegetarian. :P Also, diets aren't for life. Once I got off it, I could have it again... why not do the diet right?
creamer for my coffee in the morning... I don't even count it cuz I'm having it or I won't be able to function. Luckily, they make fat free creamer these days.
Nothing, I will and have been eating everthing I did before. I have adjusted a few recipes, but I am basically eating portions within my daily calorie count. I have mixed in a few more veggies, although I ate quite a bit before. I miss ordering whatever I want at restaurants, but it has forced me to stay away from them more. When I am out, a salad with Vinagrette is fine with me.
apples or luna bars. no way. ever! and ITS ALMOST APPLE SEASON! i'm so excited! lol
Greek food. I can't help it. And I'm not restrictive about it either. (ex, I'm not going to order chicken instead of gyros if I want gyros.) I just don't eat as much. Life's too short to deprive yourself.
Baby carrots and bread. I cannot live without my carbs.. or my precious baby carrots.
Bread, pasta, rice. I just switched to whole wheat and brown rice. I'm a carb-lover; no Atkins for me.
BOOOZE! Ok it doesn't really count as food. I love bread. I could never give it up, so I make room for a bit. 3 oz of french bread or a bit of fococcia. NEVER packaged bread. If I am going to use that many calories, I'm going to have delicious, fresh, bakery bread.
yogurt covered pretzels. (:
my faaaave food EVER. but i so rarely have them. ):
I can give up any particular food with relative ease (there are so many other delicious things out there) but I can't give up my simple carbs. Sugar calls my name when I'm at my weaket moments. I avoid sugar and have put in place sugar bans in the past. Sometimes, I've found myself walking past starbucks and feeling I just SO need a frappucino right now. I realise as I'm pushing open the door that I almost never drink coffee. As I join the queue I realise my brain has in fact sneakily cooked up a plan to make me want coffee in order to get at the sugar it actually wants. It knew I'd ignore it's requests for sugary foods so it thought it would fool me.
My brain is sneaky in other ways. It sends out orders for non-sugary things in the hopes of sneaking in simple carbs past my ban. Croissants for example. I'll start to reach for one until I realise "hold on a minute - croissants are simple carbs so almos sugar" and my brain harrumphs, foiled again.
of course no blanket ban can stay for long. Temptation becomes too great so I have down days when I have no refined sugar at all and up days when I can (although not too much).
I can't (or won't) give up the following:
PURE maple syrup
BUTTER (but, I use the spreadable kind with canola oil which is a good fat)
Bacon
Nutella (or chocolate in any form!)
I have lost 60 lbs over the past nine months, so obviously you can eat anything and still lose weight. You just need to make sure you eat these foods in moderation. I found that if I restricted myself from anything, I'd cave and OD on it-- Not good! So now, I indulge once in a while and I feel okay with it!
I definitely would have said carbs since I eat so little protein and vegetables. Then my doctor put my on southbeach because on a cycle of eating then craving carbs. Yet SB has the stuff I didnt eat before accept cheese and nuts. I gave up the one thing I felt I never could and truly find it difficult asked the question that there isnt something I couldnt give up because I gave up it all.
I think ice cream because although I only eat SF fudgsicles instead of the highfat ice cream, I wouldnt want to give them up.
All my food. Because I don't want to become a miserable hag. I just eat it in very small portions, and every once in a while.
Pizza and alcohol. So lovely and sooo bad for you.
Oops double post.
alcohol. I love it too much, my rosé and my malibu and corona mmm
Good tequila, chocolate, bread, and pasta.
But especially the chocolate. :-)
There are some things I gave up a long time ago that I have no desire for. Hense why I gave them up without a problem. :P However, most things I do not give up. Yes, I pout when someone makes a dessert and brings it in or buys a pizza..etc..and I cant get into it. But, I do however allow myself to eat these things at least one day a week so I'm not totally deprived. This isnt just about "diet" it's about a lifestyle change and if you gave up things you loved, then what kind of life would that be? Isn't being healthier about living longer? and who wants a longer life of self torture? I mean honestly. *laughs. You can have whatever you want as long as you meet it into your caloric needs or have it in moderation on the day you let yourself eat what you want. People shouldnt have to deprive themselves. Enjoy life.
