i don't log coffee, tea, gum, or anything that i have like a little taste of. i do log flavored water when i drink it though, because it has sodium and that's one of the things i'm trying to get down to a normal level.

I don't log diet drinks, water, salad leaves, black tea & coffee..

I log everything* except water, I even log  tea, coffee, etc. (my daughter even logs water, that way she can keep track better) and I never chew gum.

***except***  I have a secret stash of black jelly bellys in my cupboard, and I eat 3 or 4 of them once a week or so, and those are my free treat to myself  Innocent

i know this is really off-topic, but jewel_girl i'm pretty sure that puppy in your picture is THE cutest thing i've ever seen.

I don't log tea, water, the acctual coffee... but the sugar I put in I do log.

Occasionaly I go to a meeting where dinner or lunch is provided... I log what I can, but well sometimes you just don't KNOW what they are serving.

spices
water
vinegar

That's about it.

coffee, tea, water, lettuce leaves, spices, 2-3 spritzes of hot pepper oil (maybe a teaspoon per week, where measuring 1/8 tsp per serving seems like a waste of time).
I log Enviga sodas because they have 5 calories, calcium and sodium. But I don't log mustard or herbs and spices (unless I use an entire bunch of an herb, but it's only like 3 cals and seems a bit neurotic). I don't log salt when I cook though (I'm not that worried about sodium because I have low blood pressure).
I don't log gum or splenda.
But for Splenda, I just know in my head that it's 4cals/tsp, so I sort of overcompensate somewhere else, telling myself I'm taking my Splenda into account. Now, if I was using like 20 tsp a day, I'd log it, but it's just not worth it to me to log those 4 cals.
Oh, I also don't log spices.
tea, water, spices, equal, mustard, zero cal butter spray, and small little bites of stuff that have neglible cals (little crumbs of cookie, the "here, you've gotta have a small taste of this" at restaurants).
Well, when I did count calories, gum, tea, splenda, diet sodas, and M&Ms.
celery, tomato, gum, tea, splenda, spray butter
tea, diet sodas, "no calorie" dressings/dips (walden farms), spices (cinnamon, galric powder, chili powder, etc), and sweet n low.

If i'm logging:

water & anything that says ZERO calories on the nutritional label (diet soda, walden farms dressings/products, some spices, splenda packets, etc..)

I read the labels for EVERYTHING - EVERYTIME I put it in my mouth , so if it says 0, or 5, or 10, or whatever - thats what I go by. (even if I KNOW there are trace calories)

:)

not to change topics, but what spices really have enough calories to be logged?  And honestly, wouldn't you have to use ALOT of it to actually have it be considered more than a calorie or two?

I guess it depends on each person on whether a few calories is enough to be logged or not.  But yes, you would need more than a shake to get more than just a few calories.

clove & cinnamon are like 7 calories a teaspoon or something close to that. nutmeg is more, etc..

many are 0 or real close to it.

I also think the word spice around here is interchangeable with "herbs" & "seasoning".  At least thats what I meant, I should have said "seasoning" as that would be more appropriate. Meaning salt, herbs, sugar, cocoa, anything that I add to food that enhances the flavor.

i don't log that chocolate that i eat almost every single night  :D  it's just one piece...  dove dark mostly
I log everything; spices, nonstick spray, Stevia, herbs...

It all adds up eventually.
I'm kind of ridiculous about it. I'll log stuff like 1/6 clove of garlic, herbal teas and cumin ... then I'll say that the pasta I had was probably "about so much" when I know that I'm waaay off. If you think about it, 10 calories a few times a day does add up ... and it's best to keep track of it!

I don't usually log water unless I'm having a hard time keeping track of how much I've had.  I don't log my 10cal Omega-3 pills.  I don't log my teas, because I don't add sugar or milk.   I also don't log spices unless it's part of a recipe--then the computer can figure all that out for me!  Smile

I do log diet sodas to track sodium intake and try to make up for that in water intake.
