foods that DON'T make you feel full?

kind of a different question than most of you are probably used to, but...

what are some light foods that i can eat without filling myself up? i hate that full feeling but i know i have to get my calories, so.. any suggestions? i'm thinking in about a range of 100-200 calories, not highly processed and obviously low in sodium.

ANY kind of granola/pre-packaged bar! Stupid things. *mumbles* =P

A food I love which NEVER fills me up? Cheese rolls or cheese bagels.. sad.

Ouh, and cereal! ESPECIALLY Special K - and it tastes AMAZING.

I just made this lunch that I ate after my workout...I don't feel hungry, but I don't feel "full", I do however feel satisfied :)

  • 1 cup black bean chili (or any low-sodium soup as I find soups to be not very filling) reheated with additional water
  • 1/2 cup roasted and diced potatoes
  • 1/2 pita loaf cut into triangles and toasted under broiler

That's obviously just an example meal I ate, but if the potaotes and pita would make you feel full (as they probably would me if I hadn't just worked out hard), the soup is a great idea I think of a non-filling food.

Cereal, even though its my top 4 favorite foods I never feel full after. Hence my 5 bowls yesterday.

Yes! I love Special K but never feel full, I could eat a whole box of Fruit and Yogurt and still want more.

Naturally sugary or fatty foods will do that, no problem.  A thin slice of toast (70 cals) spread with a tablespoon of unsalted dairy butter (100 cals) and a tablespoon of natural honey (60) is 230 cals, totally 'clean' and won't touch the sides.

  • Small apples
  • Cereal
  • 100 calorie snacks
  • Waffles
  • Granola/Protein bars

its harder to find something that's 100~200cals that you *will* feel full eating, than something that you *won't*

that said, i just discovered a heavenly snack that you might want to try.

1. take a small handful of sunflower seeds, hold in in the palm of your hand

2. put a dried date on top of it

3. cram the whole thing in your mouth

4. chew

5. enjoy the creamy goodness

6. repeat from 1.

each handful is about 40~50cals (depending on how much sunflower seeds you pile on, 3~5 handfuls ought to do the trick. :3 )

the moist type banana/zucchini breads are also really great. they're about 150~180 cals for a small slice, and they taste so good. ;3

a thick slice of wholegrain bread with a tablespoon of PB, that's around 200cals.

a small bar of dark chocolate is about 200~250cals

trail mix and/or granola is always an easy way to get those cals in too. you can make your own if you get the nuts and dried fruits separately--it's more fun that way, since you get to pick and choose what goes into your mix! (:

kashi cereal is really good too. I love the (cinnamon) good friends one, which is about 200cals a cup. :3 this one, you honestly have to try it to understand the magic of the mixture. xD
