What foods should I eat in recovery?
So, some of you know i'm trying to recover from an ED. I'm just not sure what I should eat... I always want ice cream!! But I also want things like taco bell or some kind of different take out for lunch, but i don't know if I should allow myself to start eating these things again since they aren't the best for me.. I need advice on what I should eat.
Today I want something good for lunch...I want a big ice cream sundae, or a sandwich from wendy's with fries...but I don't think I should. (I had ice cream friday night at the fair) what should I do?!?! Your answers mean SOO much.
there really isnt any right or wrong in what to eat for your body to get the best nutrition its better to have meals of all the food groups and if you want ice cream after have it , it really is ok.if it burger chips and salad thats fine or if it meat 2 veg and potatoes thats fine , curry and rice thats fine. go with those craving it is likely to be the ed telling you shouldnt have them. dont listen you can have the control on what you can eat. look at the weight gain thread what did you eat today if you are short of ideas. probably best though to have icecream after your meal rather than alone as it wont satisfy you nor does it contain all the nutrition you need . try not to over analyse things it really is ok to eat what you want, the job of gaining is far easyier if youare enjoying what you are eating h x
If you have an eating disorder talk to your treatment team and ask their advice.... Generally speaking... 'There are no bad foods, only bad diets' Meaning that eating taco bell is fine but trying to live exclusively on taco bell is questionable. The worse thing for your health, by a long chalk, is remaining underweight.
you know what i would do?
i'd get hooked on things that are available both HIGH and low calorie (breads, jello, cream cheese, soups, juice). That way, once you reach your goal weight, you can still eat the things you've come to love, and eat the same amount. It slightly kills two birds with one.
That's what i'd do.

Since you're underweight, ANY food you eat is useful. As the others have said, don't be afraid to include some 'fun foods', like ice cream, chocolate, restaurant food, etc. Even when you reach your goal weight, you can still continue to have these foods. As Jane said, there are no bad foods, only bad diets. Those are the words I live by. :) So don't be afraid to branch out a bit!!![]()
