foods to eat when sick
what are some foods that I can eat while i'm sick. but they would be bland enough not to upset my stomach?
If you are still vomiting - don't eat until you have stopped for a couple of hours and can hold down water.
After that, stuff like chicken broth, saltine crackers, lemon-lime soda are staples in my family and have been for generations. Toast and apple sauce are others I have heard.
If you aren't really nauseous, I'd go with stuff like mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chicken noodle soup. Amazingly enough, bland colors seem to correspond pretty well with bland flavors.
thanks. I haven't vomited YET, so i'm trying to avoid the foods that will make me vomit. i've survived today on a few saltless butterless crackers and a banana (which was a bad idea) but today was basically the first day, since it started last night so i'm hoping that it won't last much longer. thanks!
you could try the BRATTY diet. The letters stand for bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, tea and yogurt.
If you begin throwing up, wait 20 minutes and drink small amounts of clear liquids, such as tea or ginger ale every 15 minutes until there has been no vomiting for at least 4 hours. Then start on small amounts of the foods on the list.
